We stood at the bus stop in Hoi An deliberating which way to head to our hostel until some men on scooters (not quite as random as it sounds) offered us a reasonably priced lift. We had heard this was the taxi of choice around here but nothing had quite prepared me for the spectacular efficiently with which they crammed Anna, myself AND one of our big bags on to the back of one scooter and 2 bags and Sarah on another. I think I laughed my way to the hostel out of disbelief! As is our ...

... for water to strain through. Result is a beautifully strong and smooth coffee. After a lovely coffee on the balcony (oh, and cornflakes) we check out and head off to the catamaran guy. We hire the boat for an hour and sail round the bay. A skipper comes with us and does most of the sailing, however Sabine and I have a go to. I try to remember what I did all those years ago, however it had been around 25 ...

... of life. On my walk back from the beach I stopped and got a Kabab, and an ice cream for supper. It was street food and so far I had been lucky with everything I had been eating. Many of the people on the tour group were sick, either upset stomach or other issues I won't get into. I may have a higher tolerance too, having been living in China. The bus was as awful as we imaged. I tried to get a seat near the middle to avoid the extra bumpiness ...

... this that the tourists from Russia bring lots of money to the area and it seems to make sense! More on the war in the Ho Chi Minh blog!

Being a beachside town, we didn't actually do many activities, or in fact any day trips out of the town. We had some delicious food and a couple of massages and otherwise just lazed on the beach, wandered the streets, stopped in coffee shops for reading and writing and got battered around by the ...

... as soon as they saw them they rushed over to me like flies would to a sugary drink! They had a lot of fun with the flags.

When we had to leave the house, probably 7 or 8 kids came and said goodbye to us and a couple kissed us on the forehead. It makes you feel good when you know that you made a bunch of kids really happy, and I think that it showed me that when it comes to kids, language doesn't matter.

    We hope you are well.
