Confirmation of my delusions of adequacy

... 30 of them I counted last night out in the surf.
- For dinner we went up to Sorrento beach and had some steak, which wasn't great but the cocktail I had with it helped.

Wednesday
- Today we headed off to Rottnest island. The place is very cute. It is here I confirmed two things I am now officially no good at.
- Let me say from the get go, I don't do things I am not good at well! As in, I am prone to ...

Strong currents, sharks, huge spiders and snakes!

... olds were asleep in our room when we got back, one of them snoring LOUDLY and chris had no idea until he felt his bed move which gave him quite a shock. Really really funny night, I managed to fall asleep and go right through but apprently others were kept awake by the randoms.

Thrusday I woke with a massive headache and drank about 2 litres of water as soon as I could get near the tap! Everyone else stayed in bed for ages but chris woke up and we had breakfast ...

Salam dari Perth part II

... bergerak dalam 6 minute lagi dan kami kena pergi terminal yang agak jauh menghala ke Mandurah. Memang berlari aku dengan Ed masa tu, sebab kalau miss we have to wait another 30 minutes. During weekend kekerapan train ni kurang sikit. Alhamdulillah, we made it to the train. Dalam train ni mata aku dah mula ngantuk. Jauhnya. Dah dekat 30 minute belum sampai-sampai lagi. Sesampainya kami di Rockingham, aku terus jadik blur. Kami di kawasan cam kampung yang takde apa-apa. Errr ...

GOODBYE AUSTRALIA!!!!!

... There were no vans suitable, not unless we fancied turning around and driving back to Sydney again and I think you know what the answer to that was. We were also becoming very aware that Perth, like most of Australia's big cities, is not a cheap place to live when you are on a tight budget. We're not skint at all, we've saved a fair amount of money, but experience has taught us that when you're hanging around and not earning, your funds start dropping dramatically ...

... NORTH - a 600km drive - the temperature got higher and higher as we progressed northwards. At the town of Lancelin we headed for the 4X4WD track over the sand dunes towards Cervantes. We were looking forward to our AFTERDUNE DRIVE (JDs joke)! We let the tyre pressure down and Conrad drove through the sand on the narrow, but well worn track. The GPS kept telling us that we were on "Sappers Road", but ...

Bags of fun

... it was safe and good to cool down in. It was relaxing just lying on the beach doing not really much. Whilst in Scarborough we met up with an Irish couple that were our Neighbours in Newtown and they were in Perth for the weekend. We ended up in an Irish bar of all things but left early as we had to catch the last bus back to Scarborough. Didn't do much and headed back to Sydney to say goodbye to everyone before leaving Australia behind.

i'm in Mcdonalds!!!!

... Maureen in the garden, under their pergola (which has a 40 year old, outdoor fridge, which Tony simply repaints every year and which stays outdoors all year round!) Unfortunately, Maureen's mobility is still severely restricted after he nasty fall at Alison's just before Christmas, when she suffered a badly broken leg, which has only just had the plaster removed. She is still obviously in a fair amount of discomfort and Tony has had to cover for her around the house ...

and we're back where it all began!

... such distances and for such long periods of time and in such heat that the aussies people are dedicated to making sure that both they and us travelling folk do our upmost not to get stranded and that if we do, we have everything we possibly need to get ourselves out of trouble. as i say, these people are much more obsessed with their roads and road safety at that than us brits are, but then they have a lot more road and a lot more space where incidents might happen. anyway, so back ...

Our Last Aussie Weekend !

... at Floreat with Jacinda leading the class through 45 minutes of the best and hardest cycling a non-olympian could do! In addition, I'll miss Jane P. and Colin C. in those cycling classes! It's people like these that I'll miss most! And the Saturday morning post-class coffee at Delish! A week wouldn't be complete without our group meeting for coffee! On Sunday, at our church St. John the Baptist ...
