... 7/11 to buy some aloe or anything to rub on my burn. even though i don't have too much experience with burns, i've been around enough white people to know what to do. i still remember being a child and looking at their hypercolor skin with envy. thought it was cool to touch the skin and for it to turn white again before your very eyes. i had hoped to get that when i was older. but now that my skin is doing that, i'm just wishing to be ...

Storms, Scooters and Scams

... it to our hut hoping we didn't get hit on the head with all the falling coconuts. Terrifying times. So we watched the storm from our porch thing, the electricity had also gone and didn't come back for several hours, well after it got dark but they brought round candles after the storm had ended. It was really loud and quite exciting, we were just hoping that a cocount didn't come crashing through our bamboo (or maybe palm) roof and kill us. Luckily we're still here though. After this ...

... but otherwise nothing 'new'. Couple of really nice dives though, especially the second one at Hin Luc Bath - the corals there were really beautiful - plus it's really nice to dive in water that is 28 degrees instead of 10 degrees :) We have no idea what we're doing tomorrow, we may stay here one more night, or maybe head down to Koh Mak (out past Koh Wai) - the weather is supposed to be getting nicer, so we'll see... We've loaded up photos taken so far...

Yellow shirts and Koh Chang - Thailand

... go to watch the sunset at a smart bar adjacent to sunset huts...I love the bars in Koh Chang, these are definitely chill zones where you kick off your flip flops and drape yourself over the cushions spread on the floor, and gaze out at the intoxicating view to sea ..... Later we go to one of the organized parties...like Moro island in Brazil these are carefully orchestrated on a rotational basis so that each venue has a fair crack. When we arrive ...

Koh Chang rescue

... Centre's huge macaque 'fields', full of natural vegetation as well as man-made environmental enrichment, he had commented that they were 'beautiful'. But he just couldn't bear to part with his favourite pet. We cannot legally remove somebody's pet without their permission, so despite repeated attempts to convince him to give up his macaque for the sake of her well-being, we were unable to rescue her on this visit. The WFFT will continue to ...

Leaving the city.....

It was time to leave the big smoke and head out to our first island. We decided to give Koh Samet a miss and make our way straight through to Koh Chang, which is supposed to be less touristy. It's also supposed to be the new up and coming resort location, since Phuket had fallen out of favour after the Tsunami. We ended up a nice air conditioned coach from Bangkok to Trat - we haven't exactly been roughing it yet, but heck, the air ...

Hard Hats must be worn!!!

... one that could have killed on of us, I grabbed the coconut, which was surprisingly and terrifyingly heavy, and proceeded to try and gain access to the coconut inside which I knew contained a refreshingly cool drink! I took it to an old concrete post sticking out of the sand an bashed it repeatedly to try and break the hard outer shell and remove the pith so we could enjoy the bounty of my labour (all the time I was doig this I was reminded of two things: the great ...

... lying around everywhere and I think I inadvertently mushed my big toes against most of them in my open toe sandals. Basically the game went something like this: place 7 coconuts inside a circular, scraped-in-the-sand enclosure; using a smaller coconut attempt to smash the larger ones outside the enclosure in as few ‘bowls’ as possible.

Pretty simple really.

The owner’s son was shyly loitering on the periphery for a while, watching with interest as ...
