... piece had to be renamed as the Catholic Church at the time did not appreciate Veronese's depiction of very "human" Apostles at the table - picking their teeth, etc. The painting was renamed The Feast in the House of Levi, which apparently satisfied the Church at the time. Countless other pieces of artwork including sculptures, paintings, murals and triptych were almost overwhelming. It's an impressive museum.

Sitting on the terrace in Campo san Geremia taking in the ambience and atmosphere, it gave us time to reflect. This may be our last time in Venice as the Local Authority have passed a bill to stop large cruise ships over 96,000 tonnes from sailing down the Guidecca canal, one of the major canals in the city, due to fears that the ships are causing environmental damage. ... have given it the nickname of the "Monte Carlo of Switzerland". Unfortunately it was raining at the time of our visit and we did not view it at its best. Still I had my biggest ever "hot chocolate” and nice company of a few of the group and family.

Our Contiki family then enjoyed a tour of the original Venetian lace school to learn about the hand made garments and the process in which they are created.
