... An interesting local ferry caught Victor's eyes, it had a long wire hooked to it from an overpass about 7 stories high, it just let the current of the river guide the ferry. The locals use them to cross to the other side of the river without walking all the way to the bridge. One would call the Fahrimaa with a bell from the landing stage. It was one of four ferries that cross the river that way. We had ...

... here for at least 30 minutes so far. The passengers around us tell us that some children are sitting in the wires by a bridge and the police have been called to clear them away so the train can continue. Sounds strange, but here we sit. After we walked for about an hour (it was a beautiful sunny day) we decided to ...

... to Basel about 6 hours after our original arrival time. The good thing about this whole thing is that we managed to nap a little in the train, while watching rolling country sides. Since we are just staying two nights here, we decided to just go out and hit Marksplatz and Freie Strasse which is pretty much the market square. It is Friday afternoon and people are leaving work so the different trams and busses were pretty crowded. In Marksplatz we saw the City Hall, an ...

    Wed 15/10 cont.

    • I landed in Basel Switzerland around 4pm. The airport has 3 exits! One for Germany, one for France and one for Switzerland. I took the Swiss exit.
    • There was not boarder control at all I just walked straight into the country. I had purchased a cheap train ticket out of the country just in case I was questioned. It looks like you can travel freely within the Schengen area once you're in.
    • I did a little research and the visa situation for ...
