    ... depressing it was in contrast to the usually light and beautiful mosques. Maybe there's some deep and meaningful comment on Christianity there. Our hotel overlooks the Grand Canal and is very handy in terms of location. Fortunately it has a fabulous heated towel rail which we are making full use of.     ... up by a number of large escorted tours off the cruise liners in town. Still we saw enough to be amazed by the beauty and workmanship and headed back to the drizzle.
    We had indulged in some treats during the day but felt the need to relax for a bit and found a great table on a small canal and enjoyed an early dinner of pasta and prosecco. A soothing end to the day.
