Thailand – Bangkok & Pattaya

05th June '09 – Day 1 ::

The enthusiasm and energy to go to Thailand, our first international holiday, was so high that I woke up at the break of dawn without much ado. It was surprising to discover that I could actually get up at the first ring of the alarm bell after having slept for barely 3 hrs. Although the flight was only at 12-20 p.m., all of us had to leave by 05-00 a.m. for Mumbai Airport since the express highway roads had been jammed for long hours due to major acciden...

Superb hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I really can't fault this hotel. We had a fantastic stay, great location, staff helpful & polite, breakfast worth every penny... Would definitely go back to this hotel. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment on those but they all looked good.

Used the Leks massage shop opposite the hotel as suggested by a previous visitor.. Great recommendation... my partner & I spent several relaxing hours in there, having foot and body massages. Pure bliss after an 11 hour flight!

Nice Hotel

Enjoyed my 7 night stay here. There were problems at check in, I think their computer system was down so all rooms were being assigned manually and I was given a room that someone else was staying in, their luggage etc. was in the room. The front desk resolved this issue and put me in a room on the top floor (36) which had fantastic views over the city. Room was clean and well equipped with jacuzzi tub and the food from room service was good and fast. Would stay here again.

Okay, but worth your while to check elsewhere

I was here on business, and the best thing about this hotel was that it was not far from my appointments, and would save me the hassle of being stuck in Bangkok's notorious traffic congestion. It was an okay stay for the price, but you may be able to do better, given your travel and location needs. However, this is a very large hotel, so you may get a pretty decent rate, and a pretty good breakfast is included.

The standard room was quite worn and needs a freshening up. I can't fault the housekeeping at all. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good and seemed to be able to cover the range of tastes and preferences, given the very international crowd that this place attracts. Lots of fresh fruits, and things to keep both Asian and Western tastes happy.

The location of the hotel has its good and bad points. It overlooks a nice park, and a short walk across brings you to one of the best shopping malls in town -- the Emporium -- with high-end designer labels, etc. However, out the main door is not as attractive. I appreciate travel and cultural differences, and the street outside has that range of interesting small shops, but also broken sidewalks and plentiful hookers (I'm NOT interested, and know this comes with the territory, but it is REALLY obvious outside.)

High Standard

I have stayed at this hotel many times and I am yet to be disappointed. I have heard the rumours about some of the rooms being a bit tired and smelly, but I can't say I have experienced it. This time I stayed in a Premier Room at a highly discounted price (make sure you negotiate with the hotel sales) and I found the room to be very spacious and clean. The one downside to this hotel is that is not within walking distance of most sights, however as pointed out previously the skytrain is just a 5 minute walk out the back. Breakfast was included in the rate and I cannot recommend this highly enough, stuff yourself at the buffet and you're all set for the day. In summary, this hotel is very hard to beat when it comes to value for money.

Loved it

Excellent hotel located next to the Emporium shopping centre.I stayed for 4 nights on a stopover to Austraila and couldn't fault the facilities or the staff (I didn't eat in any of the hotel restaurants so can't comment on those). There is a separate side entrance to the hotel which leads to a very pleasant park that is mainly used by locals, this means you don't have to use the narrow street that leads to the hotel's main entrance if you don't want to.The room I stayed in was very large, polished wood floors and excellent view of the city. One fault I would have is that there was no counter to organise day trips although this is a minor quibble as trips can be organised from almost anywhere else. That said I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

A good one

I wound up in this hotel as the one I would normally go was fully booked. Actually, it was better than I expected. The hotel is quite nice with large common areas. Food is good and staff very helpful. Rooms are large and comfortable, although they will need some refurbishing not too far away in time. Definitely a good choice if it does not get run down.

Fantastic !!

This hotel is just such good value for money, its amazing !!! We stayed for four nights in October 2003 and it was superb......hugh rooms with kingsize beds and jacuzzi baths. We stayed on a room only basis but the breakfast in the hotel was good and cheap about £4.00 for as much as you could eat.

The hotel is suitated a little distance from the river but is easily accessible by the monorail which stops at the bottom of the road. The facilities were excellent and the staff extremely helpful too. If you stay at this hotel there is a fab massage place accross the road called "Leks" - nothing dodgy just superb massages very welcome after a long flight !!

Cant say a bad word about this hotel - would recommend it to anyone !!!!
