Cheap rooms come at a price!
We had a mixed stay, mostly bad. On the positive side: we were given a room with a nice view (as requested) and the TV had A/V plug-ins in the front so that if you brought a VCR, DVD, or game system you could easily hook it up to the room's TV. Also, the Casino was pretty good size and offered most all of the popular games. The other good things were the low rates (we paid $39/night with an internet special) and the room was good size.
Now the for the bad:
1) The staff was very mixed in their levels of friendliness and professionalism. About half of the staff was friendly and helpful and the other half bordered on down-right rude. Obviously the level of service was not a matter of standards or hotel culture, but rather was left up to the individual employees (enough of them were rude to make it obvious that this behavior is tolerated by the hotel management).
2) The pool looked beautiful... but we never got to use it. If there are any morning showers the hotel closes the pool for the rest of the day no matter what. Our last day there I called to ask if I could talk to someone about possibly opening the pool (it had been sunny out for about 3 hours and there were no clouds in the sky) and I was abruptly told "No", followed by "once the pool is closed it stays closed". This employee was not in the least bit sympathetic or appologetic for the hotel's apparent inability to open the pool. She seemed annoyed that I even asked.
3) Only about a third of the restaraunts were open. The one that we ate at had poor service and was out of several of the menu items (including peanut butter for the PB&J sandwiches on the kid's menu... this later turned up and the kids got their food about 30 minutes after we got ours).
4) If you drive anything bigger than a car it will not fit in the parking garage (only has a 6' clearance)... you can valet park for free though.
5) The furnishings and linens were uncomfortable and obviously very low quality (I guess you get what you pay for).
6) The IP is located in the worst part of town and requires a drive to get to the beach or any of the other casinos.

Terrible hotel. Reservation problems, booked no-smoking room online.
Arrived at hotel for weekend stay and suprise, only smoking rooms available and a smoke filled room really stinks if you are a non-smoker. Staff was not very helpful, and checkout took forever.
Rooms were nice size, but furnishing looked old and worn, much older than the hotel. Maybe IP refurbished another hotel and moved the old stuff here. Just did not feel comfortable in this hotel. Cheap feeling atmosphere.
Does not compare to other casinos hotels on Mississippi coast. Beau Rivage is amazing and the Grand Casinos are really nice.
We will not be returning to the Imperial Palace even though we did win in the casino. Too many nicer places in area to spend a weekend.
Perhaps less than average
Just returned from the Imperial Palace (IP). Once we entered the lobby (2pm on a Sunday) first thing I noticed was how hand smeared the entrance doors were--there's a row of about 20 or so glass doors, very tacky! The lobby had not been cleaned in awhile. There was debris (papers, food items, etc) strewn about. Not a good first impression needless to say. Room inquiry--I was offered and wanted a room on the lower level. I was assigned the 14th floor (they have 16 floors). Oh well maybe the receptionists math wasn't too good. Upon entering the room things were very mediocore. Room was fairly clean but not the greatest. A/C worked great and rooms were fairly quiet. Room rate was 59.00 a night. Not a bad price, but I just want something clean for this price. I'll try elsewhere next time.
Great getaway for the wife and I
The IP was a great getaway for the wife and I.Food was really good better than we could have hoped for .Casino payed off and we won at the slots.Mr.E's Lounge was a great place for a drink and breathtaking view. While there we realized it would be great for the kids.Only Dislikes pillows and coktails took a long time to come around while gambling.Comedy was great!!!!!
Great deal, loose slots
I have stayed at the IP a half a dozen times. Each time has been a positive experiene. The staff is friendly and the front desk is fast and efficient. The gaming is fun and the slots seemed to pay out often.
We just had the misfortune to stay at the IP and will NEVER make that mistake again. We reserved a king and they gave us two doubles; the rooms and entire hotel were so full of smoke from cigarettes (we were supposedly in a non-smoking wing) that even our clean clothes will have to be washed due to the stench and our allergies are out of control now. The rooms and furnishings were in poor condition. The staff was generally rude and inefficient. Our phones did not work correctly but they would not fix it. Finally, it took an unbelievable 45 minutes to get from our hotel room to the lobby to check out between the bell boy and elevators -- it's a good thing we weren't trying to catch a flight out or we'd have missed it. Awful experience -- don't make our mistake.
Stay at the Palace Resort & Casino -- it's awesome -- avoid the Imperial Palace at all costs.
IP Good but not Great
My parents-in-law, husband, 3 yr old son, 2 yr old daughter and myself spent 3 nights at the Imperial Palace Casino and Resort over the weekend. The hotel was beautiful, clean and had a lot to do for both kids and adults. I really enjoyed the housekeeping staff (very friendly) and the other guests were helpful and fun. The problems came with the other staff members, including pool staff, security, check in people at the registers in the gift shops and restaurants. They all acted like they hated their jobs and that we were a bother just to be speaking to them. We did not receive any information prior to arriving, so we were unaware of any comps we could have received with our gaming cards I had ordered over the internet and did not receive. I sometimes felt like they looked on us as criminals, and we were charged for everything including toll free calls made on the phone. I enjoyed myself anyway and would not mind staying there again, if nothing else was available.
Great if travelling with kids!
Although I did enjoy being closer to the other casinos when I stayed at another hotel casino in Biloxi on another trip, the Imperial Palace is the ONLY hotel to stay in if travelling with kids, especially if your kids are old enough to wander around by themselves. The inhouse 6 movie theaters was the best! I bought 6 movie tickets for my 13 year old, gambled to my hearts content and didn't have to worry about where he was! It was the only time we've vacationed that he didn't complain of being bored. The staff were courteous, reasonable food finds, room was clean, and I won at slots. What more can you ask for?
I was very disappointed with the staff at this hotel. Very unfriendly, and rude. On 2 occasions in one day, a hotel employee entered our room without warning. On one of these occasions we happened to be in our pj's. The room was below average, with cigarette burns on the table tops and a large burn on the bedspread. Also, it could have been much cleaner. We will not be returning.
Great rates, very nice comfortable room, extremely courteous staff, good location, easy access, enjoyable stay.

Staying at Martin Lake Resort which is a definite stretch! It is mobile home park not an rv park, with old fifth wheels and campers that people call home. There is a nice lake and a pool. We drove down along the gulf and stopped to take pictures of the carved trees damaged during Katrina. Absolutely beautiful! Had dinner at BBQ joint that had wonderful reviews but we didn't like it as much. However the owner was so friendly it made up for it. Leave tomorrow for ...
We decided to stay an extra day in Biloxi, Mississippi. We went on a 70 minute shrimp boat tour in a 12 foot deep channel. We discovered a lot of stuff we did not know about shrimp. There is no magic calendar for "shrimp" season for the gulf of Mexico. It is pretty much traditionally in May or June depending on the weather. We went in the 12 foot deep channel and they were able to catch alot ...
