... our very warm bed with sore heads, but feeling only positive about our new found traveling experience. We stayed for 1 more night, where we had our first ever taco salad and enjoyed the company of this amazingly friendly family until we could keep our eyes open no more and had to retire to bed.
Thank you Piet & Inna, and all of your family for making our first couch-surfing experience such a brilliant one!
So yesterday was all about trains, planes and automobiles. We woke up around 5 am and headed to the airport where we flew through Seattle to Vancouver. We picked up our car and drove 6 hours and arrived in Revelstoke last night around 11 pm. I was still so sick so I mostly moaned and slept while Jon drove. Today we woke up and drove for about 9 hours to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Unfortunately as I ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada kwronaSo we continued on to Medicine Hat, where Roxanne's mother lived. For whatever reason, one I obviously can't remember, I have always called her Mrs. Kay. We spent a lot of time there, visiting water slides and other things. And then we took off once more.
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada freeculture... the Fort Steele RV Park (7/10) where it has all the services, is fully treed and is located at the base of a mountain range and bordered by the Kootenay River. From here, we made day trips to: Creston - Fruit stands, farmers markets, wineries, fromageries, mural walls and the Columbia Brewery Company where Kokanee beer is made from the viewable Kokanee Glacier. Amazingly, the Creston Valley was built in 1935 when the Goat River flood plain was dyked ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada jimcabay... all over the place - seemingly gathering for the dash to the Rockies. The drive to the Rockies was awe inspiring, each time we dropped into a dip or went into a hidden wood or bend as the mountains reappeared they grow appreciably more and more impressive, from spots on the horizon to become towering giants. We had planned to overnight at Canmore, however they had no space due to Labor Day Weekend ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada philipnaylorOnce again we awoke to a sunny morning - it as one of those 'great to be alive days'. Phil got up early and decided to go off for a short run to investigate a wigwam (more properly known as a Tipi) and to take a few panoramic photographs. The first point of interest on our journey was the scrap yard in the nearby village of Wood Mountain - there were some amazing old cars laid out across the fields and anywhere else these ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada philipnaylor... stop at Starbucks for a carmel machiato for N and a skinny vanilla latte for me. Boy... getting back in your own vehicle is like finally getting to sleep in your own bed after sleeping in hotel beds! The drive from Regina to Medicine Hat was a first for N. I have done it 3 times before. Nonetheless, I still liked it... the scenery is so different from Northwestern Ontario. It was very windy today and we ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada beverlyksWe finally made it to Alberta - we were very happy to reach this province at long last. The scenery began to change and become much more beautiful (and hilly) even before we reached the provincial border. The overnite stop was in Medicine Hat (home of the world's largest teepee and not much else). The weather was alot cooler at nite and we could ...
