I should be a vegetarian!

... We arrived and the campsites we were looking for didn't seem to exist. We were lucky enough to follow some campsite signs that led us to one about 30 minutes out of the city and along the water. This campsite turned out to be a hunter’s lodge as well and much to our dismay we ate supper surrounded by animal heads and then walked back to our van only to notice a big dear hanging upside down with its guts dripping out. Not something nice to see right ...

Visiting where my grandmother was raised.

... around the city and showed me more historical places to my family like where my grandparents meet, where she went to school, were they got the meat to eat and also the church she went to. This was really awesome except it was night and I couldn’t get any really good pictures but Wilfried says he will take some and send them to me. I hope he does.

Anyways, after touring we went back to Bayreuth were we ...

... the whole hotel is empty! We get room 16 on the 3rd floor. We go up to see it and when we open the door it smells of smoke, so we go back down to ask for a non-smoking room. We are now on the 1st floor in a non-smoking room. It is huge. All the furniture looks hand-crafted.

We notice the man has several large ...

WHAT NO SWIMMING POOL!

We have experienced Manitou and the Dead Sea, since we are here, we are going to Karlovy Vary to try out the waters. We have been looking online as to where we can float in the water, but there only seem to be spas who do all kinds of treatment, some with Dr.'s prescriptions. They also drink the water.

We arrive at the tourist office and ask where we go to float in the water. Well, there isn’t any ...

... 5.30am. Not having had much sleep on the 11 hour flight it was a bit of a struggle to function like a normal human! But Munich was fantastic, a great combination of old and modern...everyone gets around on their bikes around the city which is pretty cool. Jarrad has spent a fair bit of time in Munich so was great to be there with someone who knew all the places to go. Felt obliged to induldge as the locals do so we went to a great gourmet market and had beer ...

New Years Day in Karlovy Vary

We took a day trip to this beautiful crystal and spa town. It is noted for its water. People come from all over. It is suppose to help ailments of all kinds. There are several places in town that sell ceramic vases to use to drink from the fountains throughout the city. We strolled around for several ...

Carlsbad-the town

... tale town, but it was so windy we couldn't stay long. The only way up or down was on an old squeeky elevator since they were re-painting the stairs so we had to wait like a herd od sheep to squeeze into it. Yesterday took us to a REAL castle, 750 years old and just like a fairy tale surrounded by a river moat. It was complete with torture chambers and dungeons,( our favorite part and the best haunted house ever!) and a tower to keep the princesses safe-pics to ...

More Prague visits and Karlovy Vary(Carlsbad)

... to find out that it is no longer in business. We also went to see the famous astrological clock that has a skeleton pulling the bell chimes on the hour (we'll post the video when we return). Celina also had some fun at another sekach (thrift store) and had fried cheese on a bun from a street vendor (and she didn't get sick). Speaking of food, one of our visits in Prague was to my aunt Liba's, who lived through communism as a ...

Week 5. Of bones, manuscripts and Erasmus bunch

... chapel with an ossuary, where everything (altars, chandeliers, staircase...) is made of human bones and skulls). But the best happened in the train back home: it was crowded and had to sit with a bunch of people in the corridor. All young and foreign-looking... one of them approached me and asked about the Polish scarf my friend Kamila had given me. Well, thanks to the Biawo a Czerwony scarf I am now friends with the whole Erasmus crowd ...
