We had to be out of our hostel by 10am this morning and unfortunately there was still no solution to the shutdown so we decided to have an easy stroll down to a park by the museums after stopping at Starbucks for a long breakfast. ... East Carolina BBQ for dinner... vinegar sauce, baby! I'll just keep the memories of the banana pudding to myself, since they are so delish as to be nearly sinful.

Tomorrow we head to parts north, into the great Commonweath of Virginia -- a new place for Will. It's all about American history on this leg, as there's a visit to a Civil War battlefield and the acquisition of a tricorn hat in our immediate future. Forward ho!

... on the road again. We are now at Rocky Mount, a small town just off the I-95 having driven about 5 hours. The hotel is fine and got in our good books as soon as we arrived by giving us each a warm chocolate chip cookie - our kind of place! We're off to bed now ready for another early start tomorrow - unless we hit huge traffic we should be in Washington just after lunchtime.
