I have always been fascinated by rail as a means of travel; it's a major and recurrent theme in my ongoing obsession with history. The grand, gloomy roofs of the old stations and the plodding weariness of weaving carriages on metal are somehow so evocative of our collective human journey. This order of nuns is dying out with those that are left being in their late 70s and 80s. In visiting the Cathedral of Notre Dame we found out that the only Holy door in N America was open.
