Old Moshi Road, Kijenge Area Arusha, Tanzania, 27-254-3082

1. Baking Bread: Whole wheat sourdough- Sourdough because I made the dough and set it to rise and then the power was out for two days. Okay, so I know that's not the recommended way of making sourdough, but it actually turned out tasty and not at all deadly. 2. Knitting a scarf: It's yellow and purple. 3. Going to the Gym (see also #6): But like no gym I've ever seen before. Player's Club has a full restaurant and bar as well as a pool (with poolside food/drink service, of course) a weight ro...
Arusha, Tanzania afrikanyaToday, officially, the RAINS have come to Arusha. And with them, the dreaded wadudu. the Swahili word that means insect generally, but in this particular instance refers to ant-sized creatures with a three-inch wing span. They come out of holes in the ground with the rain, and shortly after they emerge, their wings fall off. So I got to the office today and the cleaning staff was sweeping up piles of wings and wingless insects from the bathrooms, where the windows had been open all night. My ...
Arusha, Tanzania afrikanyaSorry it's been so long again, I've been all over the place - village, travelling within Tanzania for my holidays and back in Iringa sick again! After I last wrote I spent a couple of weeks in my village, just teaching in the primary school because the secondary has closed down for holidays, and trying to give some seminars in the community. The teaching is still going great, ever improving as my level of Kiswahili also improves, but working with community adults remains our largest challenge...
All over Tanzania!, Tanzania dip10020I wanted to do a quick, separate entry on Arusha. Arusha, along with this other town called Moshi, are the two small towns that act as staging points for tourists. Moshi is closer to Kili, but our tour guide company had an office in Arusha, so that's how we ended up there. One thing I noticed is that I never saw tourists walking around either town. I think people must fly into Kili, go to their hotel & then leave the next day for either Mt. Kili, Mt. Meru or a safari. We were warned that ...
Arusha, Tanzania jc_haroonEating Indian food in a hotel called the Impala in Arusha Tanzania has to be one of the funniest things. But damn, it was good. As was the company. A mass of biologists from many different countries, and there was Guinness too!
Arusha, Tanzania off_road_claraWe got up early and had a final breakfast with our friends Nick and Barbara. They will be in the crater all day, but we will leave around 11 to head for Arusha. We got a better view of a male lion today. He was incredibly large and well-defined, with a huge mane and majestic body. Wow, very impressive. We got some up close views of zebras, wildbeasts, warthogs, and hienas. We also saw a golden jackal, which we hadn't seen yet. It was a little cloudy and cool, but hopefully there was enough li...

... I promise at some point you'll pee your pants laughing.
1) "Why some women do not get a dream of love in the night and why do men not get pain during first sex and women do? And why do girls always want love sex if they just get pain?"
2) "Why some boys have small penis even when they are mature?"
3)"What is removed from women when they are circumsized?"
4)"Why does penis erect?"
5) "How can I increase amount of sperm? What are the pros and cons of ...
... in Tanzanian standards (so you can assume the discrepancy between the average living conditions between Canada and Tanzania). This house was a bare (and I mean bare) brick building. There are four rooms (we are only using three) with 3 beds in each. Each is lit by a small light that, in some rooms, barely gets lights anything. Each room has its own washroom which consists of a toilet, sink and a showerhead hanging over that is never guaranteed to provide ...
Arusha, Tanzania maniaintanzania... a cab back to Centre House around 12:30 and passed out right away.
Friday morning I was somehow a little hungover. I had only had around 4 or 5 drinks the night before, but I think because I've barely drank the past few weeks my tolerance has dropped (especially since graduation weekend). We headed to GSC around 8 and began planning for Day Camp, which begins on Tuesday. I am so excited for it. I got paired with Charlotte, an integrated program volunteer who I love ...
Eesh. Lots to write about. So the past couple of days have been eventful. First and foremost, I moved from the hostel into my homestay family's house. My "mama" (that's what they call them here) is named Mama Anna and she's so sweet and hilarious. The first time I met her I went to shake her hand and say "Shikamo", the appropriate way to greet an elder, but she just grabbed me and started hugging me for like an hour instead. So we drove back ...
Arusha, Tanzania emilybriglia... bf/gf status. The people on the streets are also very overwhelming- they like to follow you around and take you places it can get quite exhausting especially in the marketplace where there are over 200 shops and people are always pushing stuff in your face and wanting to bargain with you. They say polepole which means slowly but it isn't that slow. Today is Sunday and I went to a christian service in town and it was very nice the music and dancing was ...
