What an adventure it was just to get here, the starting point of our River cruise. We decided to come a day earlier just in the off chance that there might be travel problems, and boy did we have it. Our connecting flight from Frankfurt got the gate changed, then delayed, and the dreaded cancellation. ... call Rheinfahre which are attached to a cable that is strung across the river and the use the current to propel themselves from one side to the other. I sat and watched one of them for a while. You had to ring a brass bell if you wanted the ferry to come back to your side and pick you up.
