      ... beautiful city. Brisbane was well and truly ticked off on the Australian bucket list.

      The day we left for surfers paradise, our bus was at 16:00 so we spent the morning and early afternoon avoiding the sun in post office square, utilising Brisbane's free wifi. After a heavy burrito lunch we waddled back to reclaim our luggage and caught the bus to surfers paradise.

      So after rushing to get to The Gold Coast I realised that my first day at work did not actually begin until 5pm. Whoops! This meant that I had a good amount of time to explore Southport and Surfers Paradise. I walked from the hostel to the beach, and what a beach!       ... time following these but we never got close. Then a fisheries boat came up to us and after transferring two officers, we went a little further up the coast where there was a pod of five or six. Two of these were males forcing their attentions on a female. We were able to get very close to these and indeed at times they came right up to the boat, under it and along side it, the males displaying flukes and pectoral fins as they showed off.       ... A whole room of games and a pool table. A swimming pool, small shop and a few children's play areas. Seems like a nice place. Have taken a break from the cabin and have come outside to the BBQ area to type some of this. Within minutes I had.a new friend visiting.. A large lizard. And I mean large.
