... pier when the couple came running down! The port 'fellow' was talking to them and the lady was pretty upset and lots of gesticulating and shouting.........anyway the ship came back in and they lowered the gangplank again and on they got to a lot of clapping and cheers! We finally sailed an hour late. Amazing! Pre dinner tipple; dinner; late show; bed. What will tomorrow bring? Something amazing! A day on Crete, enjoying great mild weather, some 4,000 year old culture, fruits of the forest, home made wine and our first ever swim in the Mediterranean. Not a bad life. Another city (Heraklion) shut down by protests, this time students against police violence. We teamed up with our kiwi posse and hired a convoy of taxis that did a few of the sights. Really friendly and informative. They thought we were a bit crazy wanting to swim (as it's now out of season). But I ...

A bit more wandering and we found the monastery albeit from the back door. We met up briefly with Scott and Julie who had taken ...

The island of Rhodes is another big tourist attraction with many beach resorts and hotels. I was told tourist season has another 2 weeks and then everything closes. The weather has been great, sunny in the mid 20's. This is a good time of year to go, perhaps not as crowded and not as hot.

We went to the village of Lindos a typical island village with whitewashed houses and narrow winding ...

      ... adorable bundles of fluff!

During our time off we had the chance to explore Mugla which was admittedly quite small. However there were opportunities to play sport in the local facilities and we were able to take the bus to a nearby beautiful beach called Akyaka. Akyaka is a beautiful place with a stunning stream of crystal clear glacier water running into the sea. There are many ...
