    ... a pavlova for the next day.. & seeing as Valerie was already asleep & we didn't want to wake her.. we didn't want to risk using the electric beater.. so we had to make meringue.. whisking by hand.. oh lord. We were doomed from the start. Then finally stocking up on junk food & watching Elf (as I have every year for about 5 years now!) while Emily wrapped some last minute presents.

    ... This culture shock coming back disgusts me: I'm in a line full of screaming, obnoxious people. Where did all the sweet, calm people with Irish accents go? The people in the Newark airport do not have nearly the joie de vivre that anyone I encountered in the last 5 weeks do. The security line is all over the place.     ... Aidan 6 and Declan 4. Of course it was exciting times and the kids got to know each other and Marie and Justin broke out a late night supper which was really appreciated by the kids. Their home was a very cool, three story 1920s house in a neighbourhood of beautiful old homes.
