... The following morning at the crack of 8 we left to sail the 30 miles to Kos. Richard helped us to get out of our berth but we still managed to get a rope round the rudder. However, this sorted itself out and, as we left Richard shouted “You’re on your own now” – cheeky sod.

... Etablissement in andere starrt; unbrauchbares Inventar wurde am Straßenrand abgestellt und niemand räumt es fort. Genausowenig wie die unzähligen Plastikflaschen und anderer Zivilisationsmüll, der weit über die Insel verteilt ist. Oder die unzähligen Autowracks, die überall abgestellt wurden. Nichts photographierendswertes...

Es gibt auch schöne Ecken auf der Insel, aber zu wenige für die Massen an Touristen. Auch wenn die meisten fast ausschließlich in ...

... durch das lose Geröll den Fußmarsch lohnen? Ich werde es heute nicht erfahren, sondern genieße auf halbem Wege, den fast Menschenleeren Strand mit kristallklarem Wasser ohne Seegrashaufen. Es gibt zwar keinen Sand, sondern mit Kieseln durchsetztes dunkelgraues Granulat, aber darauf liegt es sich genauso gut.
Das Wasser ist angenehm temperiert und es gibt keine kostenpflichtigen Schirme und Sonnenliegen.

Für 10 Euro einen Scooter gemietet und schon geht es bei strahlendem Sonneschein von Küste zu Küste. Von Ost nach West und Norden nach Süden, über die Berge, an den Strand und vice versa.
Wie mag es auf der Insel wohl zur Hauptsaison aussehen?
Viel "Einheimisches" ist nicht mehr zu sehen, nur Freßbuden, Souvenirshops und endlose Reihen von Sonnenschirmen an Str ...

... warum das Ehepaar neben mir denn nur 20 Euro zahlen müsse lautet die Antwort: "Special Price", denn sie wären von Ihr** Reisegruppe - das Ehepaar spricht all**dings Deutsch und von ein** Reisegruppe wissen sie nichts;-)
Am Ticketschalt** bezahlt man dann nochmals Passkontrollsteu**. Auf dem Beleg steht 3 Euro, v**langt w**den 4,20 Euro, mangels Kleingeld w**den es 4 Euro - int**essante Rechnung.

... stocked with beautiful brass artifacts. Right away I was invited into the store for a cup of hot apple tea, served in small glass cups. The Turkish people seemed so friendly and what a nice gesture! Hot apple tea was served in almost every store.
While walking I noticed large bunches of Saffron, hanging to dry from the balconies above the street - gorgeous red contrast to the pale chalky buildings.

... in the jumper seat next to the driver. İt was unsafe and hilarious. We figured she had already cracked her head open once, might as well be her again. The buses in Turkey are quite luxurious and a man in a tie serves constant tea, coffee, water, cola and snacks. He comes by every half hour to see what you need. However, you have to time your beverage consumption carefully with the rest stop times, and if possible, avoid them for two reasons. 1) They cost money. 2) There is no ...

... that nobody on the Island are that fond of him! (Avoid hiring bikes from a chap with a tennis headband next to JM supermarkets). Had a bit of a short but heated discussion with him when a chain came off the bike. Grr... The bike ride was nice, got to see the farms around the area - up until this point it almost seemd that no locals lived on the Island...just tourists!
