411 Livingstone Way Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, 263-13-44737
We took advantage of the morning and did a early private boat ride on the river. We spotted a pair of African Fish Eagles. We took a minibus from Chobe Safari Lodge to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side. After checking in at the Ilala Lodge, we promptly headed out walking towards the Falls. The biggest hassle was all the vendors trying to sell tourists wood carved figurines or bowls. They will even ask to trade for your shoes or clothes. But we took the advice of our Zim hotel staff and trie...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe homheadWell ... one thing you really notice about Africa almost everywhere you turn is just how poor is their infrasturcuture ... if it is sitting in the semi dark at an entire shopping mall which is under brown out ... or being shaken to bits as you navigate from pot hole to pot hole on the roads ... what with the ******* rain we get ... you could be forgiven for thinking you are in Ireland!!! The latest problem is with internet connections ... I tried to upload a few images yesterday and nothing ....

The public gathering space was beautiful with natural fabrics, comfortable sitting areas both under cover and out on deck by the fire which burned in the fire pit each morning and evening. The staff was joyful and welcoming and we felt right at home.

... Buffalo and Elephants everywhere. The Delta itself was also quite impressive, we even got to see lake Africa, so called because of its remarkable resemblance in shape to the African continent. We landed back in Maun safe and sound pretty chuffed with what we saw. We had a few drinks that night to celebrate and also to say goodbye to one of the guys who was leaving the tour. Next morning we were up at 5am for a big drive across most of Northern Botswana to Chobe National Park ...
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe alandrach... now in Livingstone relaxing, we are going to head out to Vic falls tomorrow afternoon, but this morning I went out to the Lion and Cheetah center and went on a lion walk. It was amazing nad I was lucky enough to have all 4 guides and 4 lion cubs all to myself, the cubs ranged from 10-12 months old and were so cute but so big already (around 50 kilos). I walked with them and pet them for an hour. As there were ...
Livingstone, Zambia sabenafrica... me and so some traditional dances. It was very cute. I felt really honored. When they left, as had become the custom almost every day, they all had to touch me (mostly shake my hand or high five) on the way out the door. Oh, I also presented my teacher, Sandrah, with actual teacher versions of the text books as well as some learning to read books for her to use with the class. She was very grateful and we both got a little teary-eyed.
As I think I have mentioned before, building ...
Money The money here is called Kwatra. The exchange rate is approximately 1 USD - 5,000 Kw (so we have high numbered bills - it's weird) Most people/places also take USD. I only exchanged money yesterday. The volunteers from other countries have newer, crisper dollars that I! Just the fact that everyone also has dollars in this foreign place is pretty weird. Weather Sorry to all of you back in Austin, but the weather here is ...
