We took advantage of the morning and did a early private boat ride on the river. We spotted a pair of African Fish Eagles. We took a minibus from Chobe Safari Lodge to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side. After checking in at the Ilala Lodge, we promptly headed out walking towards the Falls. The biggest hassle was all the vendors trying to sell tourists wood carved figurines or bowls. They will even ask to trade for your shoes or clothes. But we took the advice of our Zim hotel staff and trie...

Well ... one thing you really notice about Africa almost everywhere you turn is just how poor is their infrasturcuture ... if it is sitting in the semi dark at an entire shopping mall which is under brown out ... or being shaken to bits as you navigate from pot hole to pot hole on the roads ... what with the ******* rain we get ... you could be forgiven for thinking you are in Ireland!!! The latest problem is with internet connections ... I tried to upload a few images yesterday and nothing ....

We survived and LOVED Africa.

It is nearly impossible to sum up our experience and our thoughts on Africa but taking a stab at it we would say that it’s WORLDS AND WORLDS away from our westernised day to day lives with amazingly friendly people and diverse and beautiful scenery.

We did an overland trip with the African Travel Company and camped from Zimbabwe up through to Uganda. ... with a tandem jump you have a 50/50 chance of living, who wants to die today?" Then they put our harnesses on us and attached the two of us together in 2 places. We were all set to jump now. We sat nervously on the bench as they described the jumping process to us. We were to hop up until our toes were hanging over the edge and then start counting down from 5. At 2 we were to bend our knees and at 1 we were to jump. We asked them if they could simply push us off ...

... Religion’s bigger here, too, complete with gospel music. Go figure. After a few nights I switch rooms to a place with wi-fi, but it’s not very good, just better than nothing. They’ve got four identical cats, though, big ol’ fat boys, so I adopt them all, and sleep with them, too. The night air is chilly. All the hawkers are trying to unload now-defunct one-hundred-trillion-dollar Zimbabwe banknotes, achieving for them in death ...

(Deep breath) So much to write! This morning we were picked up at 6:15am to head to our lion encounter. We were thinking, cool will get to see some lions up close and maybe get a chance to pet one for a sec. But no, we were taking four lion cubs for a walk in the bush. We got to hang out with them ...
