... it, so they recommended a cafe further along the lakeside. 20 minutes walk later, we were sitting there, drinking our coffees and cokes, and watching the swans and ducks on the lake. A short walk further to the next ferry stop - and the heavens opened again, only this time it was torrential. Once on the ferry we could barely see the shore!

Raining, again. Quite hard if the noise from the drain was anything to go by. Becomming an expert on gauging the weather by the noise from next doors gutter. As the day progressed, there were monentary lapses, but then the thunder and lightening would return with a vengence, and you were pleased you hadn't sucumbed to the temptation to go for a walk!

We reached Como at about 5pm, and checked into our hotel. That left us time to walk down to the quay, have a drink at a cafe popular with the local sparrows, and wend our way to a delightful restaurant round the corner from the hotel. A short walk along the lakeside helped us to digest it all, before finishing with a bottle of wine watching the busy Saturday nightlife from our room's ...
... bit earlier than last night but to the same restaurant Trattoria L'Antico. It was very good again though the service at the end of the night got very slow as they had a big party arrive. We were tired...it had been a long day in the sun and on the water and we were ready for bed. It was a nice last night in Italy, tomorrow Switizerland. We are all looking forward to seeing the Gold/Nettleton's but we are also sad to be leaving ...
... sang. Till the applause. Well received. Didn't think it appropriate to stamp and scream so just clapped appreciatively along with the crowd.
Then there were more speeches, by the organiser, a patron, perhaps the mayor........and still the audience behaved. No-one moved, no-one ran. Incredible, but guess if anyone had left early, they'd have missed out on the socialising that went on afterwards.
Walked home in the moonlight.
