... an extremely successful travel agent, if ya know...people still actually used those. I used nearly every type of transportation this week and navigated my way with flying colors! We never missed a bus or a flight, and we may have messed up on the metro, but that was easily fixed. I was really proud of myself! I think that trip might be my last big, complicated excursion that I want to plan, but at least I know that I'm capable! And I'm not even broke yet!!

    To Bari

Taxi to train station 10 euro, 5 mins. Ticket to Bari 5.60 euro, (almost 2 hours- slow train). Go figure. The trains in this neck of the woods are not Tren Italia. They're run privately and are not the most comfortable trains. The first half was fine, pretty countryside etc. And then a roma family (I think), like gypsys, got on. They must have been to a trash or treasure market cause they had all this stuff. Toasters, clothes, ...

This area was a very poor area of Italy. The food from here is called Cucina Povera meaning something like peasant food. It's good wholesome food. In demand now. Back in Martina Franca and I love the old area. In the dusk light it just looks beautiful. Especially the Church. There's always a lot of old ...

... 1.50 euro! And you get 2 good size glasses out of it). So filling. 16 euros. I can see why they have a siesta. Big meal (plus wine makes you sleepy). Before lunch I had a look in the Ducal Palace. There were some lovely friezes (of course). All the floors are made from pure marble. Beautiful. (They are in the old town too). For dinner I had another piece of focaccia. Watched Evita on my little netbook. Glad I brought it with ...

... the school times are but the train left Lecce at 12.45 and they were getting off at different stops so obviously finished school. We keep passing fields of solar panels. Good! As we get closer to MF it starts to get a little but hillier. Lots of terraces now. And stone fruit blossom. We pass a lot of the little trulli houses. They're so cute. Look like fairy houses, or hobbit houses. They're everywhere. Beautiful countryside. It's still raining when the train arrives in MF ...
