Fast sail all the way over to Otranto and even had the fun of Dolphins playing at the helm. Busy shipping lanes overnight kept us all on our toes and Eric plenty of time to practise his lights. Winds were so favourable we headed on South to M.Saint Di Leuca still arriving by 3pm in time for a cocktail on shore before getting Ellis already for next early departure ...

    The hills are alive...

... standard Tropicana back in the States. Not much else to report from breakfast. As we were climbing on our bikes, we ran into Roger and his biking buddies in the parking lot, they chatted with Mom a little and we all expressed how excited we were for the 480m change in elevation today (seemingly all up). We had a fairly early start today as had to catch a 9:30 train after breakfast, headed to Lecce. The system is that we have to have our luggage packed and ready to be picked up by the tour group by 9:30 every day, then they drop it off at our next hotel by mid afternoon. We caught the train, bikes rode with us on board, and we got off about an hour later. The trains here are very nice and very prompt. We had a little ...

    Return to Otranto

Today we returned to Otranto, which we visited five years ago on our first ever bike trip to Italy. The ride up the coast was gorgeous with rolling hills and sheer cliffs to the ocean; it was some of the best biking terrain we have seen. Otranto brings back very fond memories of time spent here with friends. We stayed in the same five ...
