Ravenna was somewhere Matt had insisted we visit, so I included it as a day trip in our packed itinerary. Little did I realise this would be the highlight of our trip. Ravenna is possibly the only place on earth where you can visit 8 UN World Heritage sites in less than a day (although we unfortunately only managed 7, as one was closed for renovations).
Home to the oldest and best ...
... As I went to the ground on my right shoulder, my left arm lingered in the air behind me, and got smacked. I got up to see Juliana our bus driving defensive end had rushed hard from the right side and dove for the block too. The problem is that you are only supposed to rush from one side otherwise you end up with a potentially injurious collision course and that’s what happened. Juliana is a very good defensive end with a high motor, and I’m sure he was ...
Milano Marittima, Emilia-Romagna, Italy mavsqb1A disgrace I know, but I didn’t take any pictures in Forli , in fact I almost didn’t take any NOTICE of Forli at all. A slight distraction in the midst of me preparing last year accounts and my VAT returns before we depart for Asia. I had to get it done and yes I felt like a boring old b******d but when it was all done it was wonderful. The hotel here was nice ...
Forli, Emilia-Romagna, Italy mamma-mia... go to Kyle’s baccalaureate. Last year I spoke at MHS baccalaureate. At that time my mom was talking about me doing it again the next year for Kyle’s class. I never would have thought then that, it would be impossible because I’d be in Italy.
I pulled up a stool with our group and Alex bought me a drink. I laughed because back in the states 20 year olds can’t buy you a drink, much less get one at a bar with you.
What a weekend.
... of your fingernail. The chips are then placed on a cement paste that is applied to the surface to be covered by the mosaic. There are some stores in Ravenna where you can buy your own supplies to make your own mosaics. Viewing these colorful and vibrant mosaics provided a nice break from the heavy Italian Catholic religious paintings of the medieval periods. It was time to head back to busy Bologna and search for that special dinner.
Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy okikuta... heavy. So that was my breakfast that morning. That's my brief description of Ravenna. Sorry that it isn't more extravigant, but it was raining and sad. But funny story, when my friends and I totally didn't know how to get to the train station and we followed our group leaders that we already told that we were not going back with them. It was really funny. Anyways, Bologna I'll write about it tomorrow.
Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy bsbfanatik... barren, rocky slopes - narcissus, crocus, sternbergia and cyclamen. And much as we love Greece there are some irritating aspects - the crazy drivers, the ubiquitous graffiti, the litter problem. Apparently Greece has the worst recycling record in the E.U, and it shows. But it's still a beautiful country with impressive mountain scenery and that amazing blue sea which is still, despite everything, remarkably clean ...
... for the bus and the ride ended up being 5 minutes long, which was silly. But, oh well. I made it to the hostel, got the key to my room, walked in, and sprawled out on the bed for a couple of minutes to just relax. I was in a room with two bunk beds but, so far I was the only person there. So, I chose one of the bottom bunks and then climbed up to the top bunk to read ...
