... a mandolin player and three others. It was very relaxing., A falconry team also showed up and we had a show of flying owls. It was great.
Tonight we have reservations at a local ristorante at 8:00 p.m. as dinner is always late and they do not open until then. We hope and pray that you all had a blessed Sunday.

... Saturday is market day here in Sulmona in the Girabaldi Plaza. Lots of foods and wares for sale. One thing we learned about the Plaza and city, is that in Sept. They have horse races and jousting tournaments here. We've seen photos of the event. Looks really cool.

... During the fighting both the town and Abbey were desecrated and many lives lost including 343 New Zealanders and many Aussies, Canadians, American, British and Indian troops. We visited the war cemetery and saw our mens' graves which was a very moving experience, especially with Monte Cassino looming high on the hill above. We also visited the Polish cemetery and the actual Abbey which has been completely rebuilt to its former glory. The hotel we stayed in was in the town at ...
