... or holding onto the grate allowing the moment to impact on them. We sat for a while to admire the tomb and scene. It is inspiring and very moving to be here. Little wonder so many miracles have been performed in his name. After Mass and hot chocolate, we head to a 1.5 walk down beside the monastery to the valley below. While it was a steep walk at times and took about 2 hours to go down and come back up, it was a tiring but lovely walk. The ...

... day. We walked up the next lane to the Ristorante Degli Ortiz on the recommendation of the hotel to enjoy beautiful Umbrian selected meats and cheeses followed by a tortellini and a spaghetti with truffles. The food was to die for and Cosmo Man made another appearance and loved the truffle spaghetti followed by a local liqueur that was like a Sambucca with truffles in it (Tartufo?). Specifically, Spello, which is an ancient town and commune of Italy, in the province of Perugia in east central Umbria. It is a medieval town, completed walled, and very steep. Absolutely stunning it is. We stayed in Casa Spello which is a renovated Monastery, much to Paul's delight as he has always wanted a 'cave'. We spent the days walking (and walking, and walking) up hill and down dale literally. ...

... up to Church of St. Claire .... Passing the bulk of the gorgeous shops as you go. So not an ordeal really.

As it was after 2pm before we were up in the shopping area, we grabbed a pizza and drink then visited the Bascilica .... Absolutely beautiful.

Inside the church you descend stairs to the crypt, on the actual site of the first church to St. Francis. There lays his body and the resting place of three of ...
