... sun for tbe most part. The mountain road was predominantly downhill but there were a few 'bonus' climbs before the big drop down to Fornovo di Tara. Our breakfast was pretty marginal at the overnight place so we had a food stop at Fornovo. After that it was onto more ordinary busy roads for most of the day. From Fornovo the route has been fairly flat so it has been reasonably easy ...

Today Matteo & Caterina drove us to Milan for the day. We parked in the suburbs and caught the Metro in to the centre. ... to catch a taxi back to Palse, we knew the street even if we couldn't remember the number. Taxi driver was very nice and said "but will you remember the house?" We assured him we would!
When we got to Palse, there were roads closed because of roadworks so it was a very roundabout route with a stop at a bar to make enquiries, but eventually we were driving along Via Peressine, and looking out with eagle eyes to see if we could recognise ...

... north-west to Castella Sforzesco (the city castle/fort) with its adjoining Parco Sempione (park).

The Castella is now a museum with a range of early military body armour and weapons. It also contains some info on the on-going restoration work of the buildings.

A stroll through the adjoining Parco Sempione was a pleasant contrast to all we had seen that morning - the wandering trails through tree plantings, a large pond, complete with ducks ...
