... The main strip has more restaurants, as well as bars and it is just a really pretty town and lay out with good views. We had an AMAZING meal here, Louis had a seafood spagetti and I had grilled octopus. We had some delicious wine, followed by cocktails and a scotch - we had to waste time through the rain somehow! I woke today, prepared to go the 5 Terres..the wind was calmer, or so I thought. When I got to the port, I was told no boats today....so, change of plan, lets go to Portofino. ... of “sitting by the pool, sipping on a cocktail” leisure that I associate with the word. So here is the truth, the path is f**king tough and not for the ill prepared. Wearing high heels (which we saw on two occasions) or flip flops (which we saw on many more occasions) would not be the most appropriate gear.

... the hotel and checked out after having our rather lame continental breakfast. There was a castle up the mountain behind the hotel which we went up to visit via the lift/cable car. The view from the top was amazing. There was a wedding taking place inside the castle, so we decided to not go in.

We went back in to town and looked round some more shops then had another fantastic lunch of flat pasta and wine. A regatta was going on in the marina, ...

... had a very quick walk through the streets then caught the next bus back down the hill. This is the only village which cannot be accessed by boat. However, there is a pathway down for swimmers. Verrazano - the last one. Once again a short walk the we sat in the piazza above the harbour waiting for M and L to finish their wanders.
