In Rome they have many umbrella trees and up to 85 000 plane trees that soak up the pollution. Now, as the time drew closer for them to arrive, we wondered, would the friendship survive Isola?

Driving towards Isola di Capo Rizzuto, began to wonder just how off the beaten track we were going to be. The roads were getting smaller and smaller, the communities somewhat desperate looking, the countryside more neglected, more rubbish around, and our first trip through Isola di Capo Rizzuto was not a comforting one. Definitely a struggling community. The apartment was 6 km outside the town, about 400m ...
