      ... be flooded with water. Across the road we went for a tour of the Roman Forum. It was enormous. In the olden days they had a 6 storeys shopping complex and it was the main hub of the city.       ... silent for 23 hours a day in solitude in their room. They also produce this 90% proof liqueur that we tried at dinner. In their chapel there were angels faces carved into the seats and underneath the seats when lifted up show the different devil faces. The girl giving us the tour works at the local restaurant that provides the monks with their daily meals. They also have lay people to help with upkeep. Our meal at the ...

      ... perched at the pinnacle of the mountain. A very well maintained and attractive village. The tourist information centre was definitely shut, as was the castello, though that did promise to open several hours later. Retired to the local cafe to rethink our day.       ... As usual, the fortress had been modified, and some of the earlier foundations were still visible. Due to its shape and location, it had been used in an Italian film. All information relating to this was, needless to say, only in Italian. Obviously a popular location for school excursions, as there was one group touring le Castella, while another group was on a boat cruising the shoreline......all long lost family!!

      ... keen to do some washing. Discussed, via the translator, that the washing needed to be done asap. Was promised for the following day, and, according to the translator, would be done by the Lord. In actual fact, that didn't happen, it took another day for the washing to be done......and then as no clothes driers are used (fair enough), and the weather had been somewhat inclement, it wasn't totally dry. ...
