... could use for our research papers on Italian culture. All in all, it made me think how that was exactly how I would like my apartment to be when I get my own one. Tea set and all. I've become surprisingly addicted to tea since I came here. The English variety, of course, with milk and sugar, but I'm still rather surprised that I've come to enjoy tea so much in Italy. Rather than, say, coffee.
... doesn't cook. She was a sweet old woman always with a big smile on her face. Despite her frail figure she works hard keeping this kitchen clean and the table full of good food. This plate of mozzarella and tomato would cost like $8 in a restaurant, and I would become accustomed to eating it every day with my meal.
On the other hand, I was not accustomed to this plate serving as the whole meal. In America dinner is the biggest meal of the day ...
... one of Italy’s greatest Gothic churches, and we could see why. Like the famous Duomo in Florence, Siena’s Duomo – completed by 1215 – was quite beautiful from the outside, containing a gorgeous red, white, and green marble façade. Inside, however, the Duomo was even more spectacular; it has an exquisite patterned marble floor that contains 56 different panels depicting historical and Biblical subjects!

Greve, Tuscany, Italy frdrickFirst stop we decided to go to Volterra before cutting back to San Gimignano. Its a bit of a windy road but worth the trip as it winds its way up to the top of a mountain to Volterra. A little cooler today. The place has a lot of alabaster and had an artist exhibition creating sculptures as we watched. Nice town, but the trip there was the best with fantastic views.
San Gimignano was calling so we headed back down. Seemed a nicer day ...

Florence, Italy bharden... was an agriturismo that fulfilled all you expect from a Tuscan experience. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves with typical Tuscan buildings and superb hospitality from the host family. Jennifer had informed everyone that we would be having a wine tasting by the pool before dinner. Everyone was to bring a bottle of wine and I had picked up a bottle of Chianti Classico in San Gimignano. It was fun to taste all the wine from the region while relaxing with our new friends ...

Florence, Italy ktsadventuresPhotos are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jaredten/s ets/ During the day: Jasper, Markus, and I decided to go sight seeing, Ian is sick so he stayed home. One of us has been sick for the last 2 weeks. Site seeing was not the best idea for a Saturday. The line for the Statue of David was way too long, and the crowds of tour groups dominate the big sites. We went to see other smaller sights instead. We waked to the main Duomo square first. Jasper hadn't climbed the duomo tower yet ...
