... Can't see much from this hotel, but tomorrow we shall Romeo and Juliet to our hearts content.

Epilogue: Connor was just watching tv and there on the screen, coming to us live from Milan, is a huge open air rock concert. Right in front of the Duomo. That explains all the sound equipment we saw in the cathedral today - we had just through they got big crowds there for mass. Lucky we didn't get caught in that - methinks the Aunties would not have been impressed

... br> As we'd both been to Como briefly before, we decided our first day should be a visit to Bellagio. With a ferry stop close by, we ventured off mid morning, on one of the few ferries of the day, but taking 90 minutes to cover 8 miles might be charming on one hand, or limiting and tiring on the other. The positive side to this change of scenery is that the area ...

... time for forensic purposes. Then I was finished and very, very relieved that I no longer need to worry about my Permesso di Soggiorno, it is now safely inside the inefficient bureaucratic machine. It's scary to think how much longer it could have dragged on though if Fab hadn't been with me to break down the barriers of the application process! Box ticked! To cleanse myself of any residual Permesso di Soggiorno frustration I went with Fab to his home town ...

After breakfast this morning, we walked to the centre of Milan with the plan to visit the Duomo and the castle before catching the train to Como. On the way to the city centre we witnessed a traffic accident when a scooter was cut off by a motorcyclist. Thankfully the guy on the scooter wasn't badly hurt. We were amazed how quickly two policemen arrived on the scene - they were there in time to help the scooter rider up off the road!! People watching as we walked ...
