Conor decides to check with the receptionist who tells us that Lukka is in a meeting, and will be out asap.       Museum at Academia for a bit of culture- lots of painting of last supper that were rescued(?) from churches in town. Some really old 14c stuff and some more recent restored items. Amazing brushwork and huge alter pieces some with bible stories that were new to me. Spent arvo wandering lanes and canals. Pizza at same restaurant. ...

      ... the monastery where the Dominican friars came to eat. It is the entire width of the wall (8.8m x4.6m). Da Vinci used a dry tempera mix which did not hold up well and started to degrade within six years. The church was bombed in WWII but the end wall containing the painting was left standing.       ... our way back to the hostel to get a map. When we asked the front desk guy if he had a map he pointed to the one on the wall, not extremely helpful but we would make do. It took all three of us to survey the wall map and when I finally asked that same desk guy how to get to the central part of Milan and where to find it on the map - he said we weren't in Milan.
