The Illegal Triathlon

... before, regrouping a little bit, remounting the bikes and descending back down to Viareggio. To finish off we had a 4km run on the flat along the coast. It was a great event that I thoroughly enjoyed but I had to let go of my competitive nature to cope with the "illegal" parts of the race! By the afternoon Fab had recovered and we were able to enjoy the last bit of our time on the coast before heading back to Milan on Monday ...

Cinque Terre

This morning we Carb-loaded via our host Franca. No protein at all was served! We waited for the infrequent bus to take us the 10 minutes drive to Manarola train station to catch the 10:17 train from Manarola (#2) to Vernazza (#3) It's a slow start to a long day, but the bus and train schedules don't allow for a much earlier start - except before 8. ... been very pleasantly surprised by where we were staying as we thought it was a bit of a nothing town. Instead we had beach, markets, lovely restaurants, and a very friendly welcoming atmosphere. The kids settled in at home and Ro and I went for a quick walk to find dinner. We ended up ordering pizza from the restaurant underneath us. It wasn’t gluten free but was worth the risk.

Pizza was great, the rose was great too and we all collapsed into bed after big ...

... Today, thursday, I think its thursday?? I met up with a friend that my parents stayed with over 11 years ago, Andrea. He greeted me like an old friend and we chatted in our italian/english made up kind of language for a while. He gave me the tip to walk up to the castle to catch amazing views. And he was right. What a way to end my four magical days on the cinque terre. I am also going to put it out there, I think the Cinque Terre is more ...
