... The main strip has more restaurants, as well as bars and it is just a really pretty town and lay out with good views. We had an AMAZING meal here, Louis had a seafood spagetti and I had grilled octopus. We had some delicious wine, followed by cocktails and a scotch - we had to waste time through the rain somehow! Along the trail there are a few small shrines and people have added small stones to the trail markers. After about an hour I'm tired and just about ready to turn around and go back down. But, I tell myself I've made it this far and I can't turn back now without making it to the top.

... we returned to our town by train for some more swimming. Manarola has a little swimming hole that is surrounded by rocky cliffs that are perfect for jumping off and into the water. This was our choice for an afternoon dip. Nick jumped from about 30 feet and Nicole jumped from just slightly lower. This ended a wonderful day. Monday I rode my bike to Carrara- It was 2 hours riding up hill to get to the bus stop that would take me to Colonnata, a tiny village in the middle of the marble mines.
