      ... university building in the world. After much debate, we decided that the anatomy building was the oldest.

      On the way home, we churched it again. We went into the church of Santo Stefano. It was amazing. The inside of the church had 2 courtyards and the crypt was very impressive.

      Yesterday, much to Joy's delight, Michael found the house where Guido Reni died, and today, thanks to a casual question to the hotel night manager, he was able to take her to the church where Il Guercino is actually buried. This is San Salvatore, and wasn't on our list of visits, but boy was it worth the walk. The night manager, Francesco, could not have been more helpful, and was delighted that someone was taking such an interest in Bologna's artists - one in a million ...

      ... of the stalls of the Christmas street market. Now all he has to do is pack the dirty socks and then go round to the post office tomorrow again. Incidentally, Italian post offices are great places to see numerous breeds of dog. Why do people take a dog on a trip to the post office, where they surely know from experience they will have a long wait, and the dogs will bark and squabble?

      ... even Rome only has 23) connected hy crowded walkways, millions of signs, several lifts (some not working) at least two long escalators, and several miles it seemed of stairs. Eventually we found our way, maming a mental note to allow about two hours to find our way back when we move in three days!

      We found a taxi with no trouble and got to the hotel around noon. It's ok, but "cheap and cheerful" describes it well. ...

      ... he didn't turn up the heat for us and we froze the first night. And the building was old and beautiful, but loud. There was a restaurant next door and we shared a wall and could hear every glass clinking all night.

      Despite that, we had a great time. We explored the sights and the university, the oldest in Europe many say (debatable?). But the best was the food tour Deanne booked for us. We splurged and spent ...
