      OMG! The trains we saw today. We woke up early, hopped on a slow train to Roma. a speedy train to Florence. Ate at a Rick Steves recommend restaurant, pretty good, in Florence.Back on a slowish train to Pisa, walked down to the Leaning Tower of Pisa...took photos, walked back to train station.       ... next 27k to the hotel, so while he sped off with some of the others, I did some ceramic shopping. The patterns on the plates, platters and jugs were really cool, and it was hard to decide which ones to get. Prior to leaving, Ken gave some good guidance so that helped in making decisions!

      We Take some Bum Advice But Enjoy Our Day in Siena Nevertheless!

      Although I think Siena is very beautiful, on this particular day, we had a car for the week and had wanted originally to go to Montepulciano instead and we let ourselves be talked out of Montepulciano in favor of Siena. The thing is, Siena is very very easy to reach from Florence by train or bus and there is a schedule of frequent trains or buses available every day so we could have made this trip another ...

      Lazy day today. Not many obvious sites to see in Siena. The town's streets and buildings are the main attraction, all in general keeping with te medieval theme.       We brought one 'souvenir' home from the tour, a very nice 2007 Vigna Piaggia Brunello di Montalcino from Abbadia Ardenza Winery. As you'll read further on in this blog entry, we will NOT be bringing that home with us when we return to the States on Wednesday.
