    ... next 27k to the hotel, so while he sped off with some of the others, I did some ceramic shopping. The patterns on the plates, platters and jugs were really cool, and it was hard to decide which ones to get. Prior to leaving, Ken gave some good guidance so that helped in making decisions!

    ... walk home, I was detoured several times as the main streets were closed for the contrada dinners that were private. I tried to stay calm, focused and keep my sense of direction solid. I was successful. I made it to the Porta Romano without incident. Whew!

    ... in olive oil. Tasty. My main course was an egg lasagna; very thin, round pasta layers filled with tomatoes and Italian sausage covered in fennel seeds with a bit of cheese. The most interesting and lightly flavored lasagna I have ever had. I left thoroughly satisfied and I only had one glass of wine! Even though I had a leisurely day, I felt quite exhausted by the time I made it back to my hotel. I'm off to Roma tomorrow. ...
