... a terrific, small, white sand beach. It is from this memory that I was basing the kind of fun the three of us could have here. Well...... like everything else.....time has changed this glorious spot. Saw Mykonos and it's lights glide past at 2.00 am when we got up to look out our balcony! Slept well and awoke at 5.30 to see the sunrise over Patmos as we dropped anchor. Buffet breakfast on the stern deck and onto a tender to the little port. Here we boarded the bus and up to St.John's Monastary atop the highest hill on the island. ... and we were the early birds. Old folks dance until the wee hours along with the young and very young. We noticed a real sense of joy and community. Why do we like Ikaria? I don't know, maybe because it seems authentically small town Greek and laid back. It's a carefree, upbeat place where people watch out for one another. It is beautiful. Our relatively inexpensive hotel room is perched right over the Aegean Sea. Joanne loves watching the intensely ...

... will like this story. I took my dress out to "iron" for tomorrow. Since European hotels won't allow you to iron in rooms, my method is to hang clothes on the shower bar, turn the water on hot and then close the bathroom door for a while. Keep in mind shower heads are often mounted in the middle of the tub pointing into the room...not at the end like at home. I forgot to put the shower curtain in the ...
