          ... winery is a popular destination is its commanding view from just outside the island's highest village, Pyrgos. And so, while enjoying a ridiculously cheap tasting of five half-glasses of local wines for eight bucks, we too were able to look down onto the caldera waters and see - four massive cruise ships anchored just off the Fira port.

          Which also explained the equally ridiculous congestion in the village as we walked back toward our lodging ...

          ... fruit, chocolate crepe and raki (a local spirit, probably metho, but we drank it anyway). I also discovered I quite like retsina, a white wine aged in a pine resin coated cask.

          That night I slept through an earthquake, quite a big one apparently, but not big enough that anything fell off anything in the hotel room. N did manage to rouse me for the last five seconds or so, I went straight back to sleep to N's chagrin.

          After breakfast we rode the quad down to gym but were disappointed to find it was closed, being Sunday so we headed back to the resort and did an 'at home' workout in the room.

          The sunbeds were calling our names so we relaxed by the pool for a couple hours before getting lunch at a local restaurant - chicken souvlaki and salad; fresh, healthy, delicious.
