... the island that some people speculate could be the lost city of atlantis! Oooooooh. The ruins were quite remarkable and they had even excavated what they believe was a toilet that would have been in use back then. Crazy stuff. We then ventured on to the red beach, which was a bit of a climb and to get to, but was well worth the effort for the boobies alone. As we walked along the beach the cliff that surrounds the beach is why it gets its name not because of the sand but ...

Afterwards we went for a walk I wanted to buy an evil eye necklace but they were around 35e and looked very flimsy so I couldn't justify it. Instead we had some gin and tonics and a choc coconut banana crepe for 30e. We got the bus back at 11pm- tix 4.4e Total 113e Steps ...

The entry into Santorini is spectacular. The ship sailed into the still active half-moon caldera that forms the harbor. We anchored offshore and had to be ferried in. All around us you can see the iconic blue and white buildings on the hills and cliffs. As the first stop in Greece - it says it all! The open caldera provides a perfect safe harbor. The present-day crescent shape of the island is a consequence of the activity of the volcano in prehistoric times. Many people feed ...

... taxi into taking us to our apartment, and finally settled at about 7pm, all very tired and cranky. The next morning, we wandered up to the town, did a bit of shopping, and hired ourselves 2 quad bikes! So much fun! We'd booked a table at Tropical Bar in town to watch the sunset, so after an early dinner we hiked back up the hill and had some amazing cocktails while we watched and even more amazing sunset. Laura and Jess went for frozen yoghurt and I walked home with Gee for another ...
