Playa Hermosa, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, 506-672-0065
The bus ride was crowded. We got off at the wrong stop and a very nice Costa Rican couple gave us a ride. The man was holding a large fish out of the car window (23 kilos) but they insisted on taking us right to our hotel. The hotel is fun. The owners and the guests are very nice. There is a great pool and we can use their kitchen to cook. We ate dinner at a restaurant called Pescado Loco, which means crazy fish. I had a fish taco. The beach is clean but busy. It is the last week of summer va...
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica travellerdaltonWe are back at the Iguana Inn at Playa Hermosa, after our trip to the Secret Beach where we camped with Patrick. We went to a hotel called Hotel Man Gaby. It was recommended by some people we met on the beach. There was a girl at the restaurant in the Hotel Man Gaby named Valeria. I played with Valeria with a hackysack which we lost in a bush, but the kind people found it again. We went back another time and played spinning tops and Poppers. Pop!!! Valeria had fun. After we came back from the...
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica travellerdalton... right! Shirtless was the only way to go. On our drive we passed by the countryside which kind of reminded of the Philiipines or Hawaii. We also passed a river full of crocodiles. Sometimes these crocs wash down the river and into the surf! Yikes!! After 2 hours, we finally made it to Playa Hermosa. The beach was a mere 25 yards from our room. Kinda far, huh? After another 3 hours of waiting for the ...
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica noreservations... a few hours later. Mamiri is great, clean, big rooms and a very nice garden and communal spaces like a kitchen and tv etc. The place has got a very nice laid back vibe, alas the Villa Amarilla felt stuffy and old. Tamarindo has one of the best beaches in the area for surfing, and the beach itself is long and beautiful, although a lot of it's splendor is lost now in the rainy season. It's not a cheap destination (for Costa Rica,) but I can live comfortably in ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica psykokristinWell, someone needs to remind me that the tropics and my skin tone do not mix well. I decided to go for a run the other day, with my shirt off, and I am paying for that. The surf has been pretty good - wiped out for the first time today, and was stuck under the water for about 7-10 seconds, but that was after I really caught one (and someone caught it on film!) and I fought back through the surf to catch a few more, but then was exhausted. I can swim a mile every day and ...
Playa Hermosa, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica court0... goes to Nicoya. It was dark by the time I got there so I settled into a cheap hotel and had a huge dinner of chicken, seafood and vegetables in some mock Chinese dish. Samara Beach The next morning I finally got to Samara, the road to Samara is paved and about 5-6 hours from San Jose. It is a small town with a large sandy tan colored beach. The beach is protected by an offshore reef so it is safe for swimming ...
Tamarindo, Costa Rica jim.greenAsaf- We decided to change our plans a little and ended our stay in Montezuma early and headed for Jaco by speed boat. When we arrived on central pacific we headed for Playa Hermosa to see the famous black sand beach. On the way down a ¨jovial¨ southern women asked if it would be okay if the taxi driver stopped at a cow pasture so she could ...
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica beccaroseBahia Salinas After crossing the border from Nicaragua to Costa Rica I headed straight to La Cruz, the first small town about 20 minutes south of the Nicaragua-Costa Rica border. La Cruz lies on top of the hillside that leads down to a huge bay on the Pacific Coast, called BAHIA SALINAS. It's a bay that no ordinary tourist puts on a list of places to see but the truth is, it's one of the most beautiful places I have been to, natural ...
Playa Copal, Costa Rica globekiter... as we were huddling under a grove of coconut trees, discussing the advice given to us by our Houstonite friend back in Granada in case of thunderstorms overhead (i.e lie in a ditch and start praying), a lightning bolt, without a word of a lie, struck an rock offshore about 200 metres directly in front of us. While neither of us were all that pleased at prospect of being struck by lightning, or maybe because of it, we decided to hasten down the beach in the direction of Tamarindo ...
Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica damnfunkin... we continued walking. And walking. About an hour later, we past a tiny super, where we stopped to ask directions, where we got directed back down the road for another three kilometers. About a kilometer later, we ran into a couple of tourists who spoke English, who assured us we were almost there and to just remember to take the turn left when the road stopped. We thanked them, and continued walking. And walking. Eventually, we realized we'd just made a huge circle, as ...
