... and got back on the bus quite pleased with my morning. Most of the others rarely emerged from their stupor. Most slept the whole journey. This pit stop did allow the rowdy group to do some shopping. They LOVE shopping! There were squeals of pleasure and questions about suitability for individual colourings from the group that rather shattered the calm of the place. The stall holders were delighted by the sales. Paul told us to not bother with the map as there are no street names, only signs every little while directing you to the different bridges or the main square. Plus it was so hot we could barely operate and the fare for the taxi wasn't cheap. We did see a dead cat floating in the water so that was a bonus.

We woke up on the third day and Kate had close to 50 bites on her I was in a close second with 8. She had also developed a rash which we ...

... is why it became Mardi Gras in the US. However, it is muuuuuch different than the Mardi Gras party that goes on in New Orleans. The Carnival festival is fancy and elegant. Most of the events in Venice cost around 400 dollars. Anyways, I didn't plan on going to Venice until Saturday morning, so that I could meet up with 2 friends from U of I that are studying in Spain. But decided to go along on Friday because my friend had an extra bed at their "hostel". ...
