    ... was the Thurston Lava Tube - it was cool and damp and eerie. Me and Kay went for a little bit of a walk inside - I thought it was the coolest thing to be able to walk through a lava tube. Then we did the Chain of Craters Road. Amazing to see the destruction the lava made. There would be signs up - "Lava Flow from 1974". It is eerie - just to see black lava as far as your eyes could see. Could also see the path the lava took in some cases - you could see the direction ...

    ... to flying. It was so bad at a number of times that the flight attendants had to stop serving dinner - and these were prepackaged dinners, not something that could spill.

    I didn't sleep well on the trip at all. What I can say was that the landing was the smoothest landing I have ever had, no bump, no jarring brakes, just a nice glide to a stop.

    I sat beside some nice people - a couple from Sarnia going to London for a vacation.

    ... to pop in and have a look but what I could see of the queue (before it disappeared into a carpark) was buge. And not even moving. I heard later on the TV they expect 100,000 people to attend over the weekend. The queue will only be bigger the next time I'm here on Saturday. The rest of the evening I spent messing around on tinterweb. I tried for an early night, but with such a good lie in I doubt I'll drop off ...
