... There is a quaint Bolognian custom that these Cafes/Bars have aperitivi from 7 to 8:30 pm. This means that they lay on free food to people buying drinks. The Cafe Zamboni has the best spread according to the travel bible Trip advisor. We had a G & T each and also had a full meal. Not a bad deal for 8 Euro a head.

Trenitalia had again messed up our seat reservations - putting us back to back instead of side by side - but the train was fairly empty so it didn't matter, we simply moved seats! The first fun started at Florence when a group of Americans got on with simply enormous cases, and loudly asked that our cases be moved from the ...

... more correctly Tagliatelle Ragu! Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it! To be honest, we tried a couple of Tag Rags, and we weren’t all that impressed. Dad – yours is better!!!

One big letdown for us was that we were in Bologna in August, which is holiday time for Italians. It doesn’t matter so much in the smaller towns or more touristy areas, but in Bologna, at least half (probably closer to 75%) of the city were away on holidays. ...
