... though was our waitress, I chickened out asking her for a photo, but she had it all, the gold teeth, sandals and socks, and sparkled scarf. Above all though she was lovely, she didn't speak too much english,but she was really smiley and thought it was hilarious that I was paying the bill (Luke's wallet it too small to fit all the bills we need to pay for stuff!). Woke to rain and cool in Samarkand. The day began with the arrival of our guide, who told us that all sites were closed today. He offered to take us to the papier mache factory, which we respectfully declined. We then asked if we could at least walk around the exterior of the buildings and receive our tour, which our guide said was possible. We left the hotel at 9am.

After hot drive, all the drives are hot, arrived in Samarkand, no sign of an old city, modern wide streets lined with apartment blocks, shops and sports stadiums.
