Well I'm in love with this place.

Wow. Iceland got added onto my trip as an extra way to spend my last few days and am I ever glad it did. Landed in Keflavik late last night and got the shuttle to my hotel in Reykjavik. Went straight to bed and didn't see a thing. So it was quite nice when I opened my windows and could see the harbour and glaciers from my room. Amazing.

The Three W's

Wet Windy and Weird those are the words for this afternoon, strolling around, today a very Wet Reykjavik in search of the infamous Icelandic wool. We walked ALL the way up and then ALL the way down Skolavordustigur street. The street has about as many blocks as there are letters in its name. It is also the main shopping district in the city, …

We are officially in Iceland!! The plane wass a mess! This lady behind me coughed the entire time and when I say cough I mean COUGH! It was so bad my mom gave her a cough drop! but only one, which turned out to be a mistake because it got wayyy worse! even my new beats couldn't keep the horrendous cough out of my unfortunate ears! Then my mom …

A journey around Iceland: 1) Reykjavik

A travel blog entry by drfumblefinger

I love visiting places that are rich in scenery, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and hiking; Iceland seemed a good fit for me. Until a few years ago the cost of a trip to Iceland was prohibitive. But recently prices have dropped to the point where Iceland is no longer "extremely expensive", just "expensive" (in line with much of Europe). So off my …

We caught IcelandAir from Heathrow at 8:30pm to Reykjavik. IcelandAir had a surprisingly large aeroplane and it was a full flight. It was a comfortable flight as we were kept pre-occupied with our individual TV screens. Unfortunately as the flight was delayed in taking by about an hour, we arrived an hour …

This review is one year after my stay but I remember the hotel had 1) the most comfortable bed/pillows I've ever slept in, 2) the best breakfast ever and 3) a long, cold walk into town. It's not my typical choice to stay at a Hilton full of business travellers, and I'd prefer to have been more central but the hotel came with the flights and it really was very comfortable and pleasant to stay there. There is a shuttle into town but it doesn't always feel convenient to take. I did try out the local bus as well as taking a taxi back late one night when I was too cold to wait.
