    Business hotel

This review is one year after my stay but I remember the hotel had 1) the most comfortable bed/pillows I've ever slept in, 2) the best breakfast ever and 3) a long, cold walk into town. It's not my typical choice to stay at a Hilton full of business travellers, and I'd prefer to have been more central but the hotel came with the flights and it really was very comfortable and pleasant to stay there. There is a shuttle into town but it doesn't always feel convenient to take. I did try out the local bus as well as taking a taxi back late one night when I was too cold to wait.

Having a whale of a time

Alternate title: you walrus hurt the one you love! We had a jammed packed day in Iceland that began with our free breakfast in the exec lounge, a perk of being Hilton gold. We then took to the road to drive what is commonly referred to as the golden circle. Stops along the way included Thingvellir, the rock formation that was the seat of Icelandic …

Yesterday was a lazy day at sea. We had a leisurely breakfast in the main dining room after which Jordana went to see an advertised sale (which as I suspected was a way for the ship to try to offload leftover Christmas merchandise and gifts from ports from past voyages) while I did our laundry. We spent the afternoon resting, putting laundry away, …

Today we did the so-called Golden Circle, a popular day trip route outside of Reykjavik, with our rented car. Terry and Sandra, the couple who will also be joining us on our upcoming cruise, came with us. The route included the following highlights:

Kerid: We hiked all the way around the top edge of a large crater created by an extinct …

Well, the Iceland tour is all over now. last night in the Hilton Hotel and then back to our guesthouse tomorrow with the hot water that smells of rotten eggs. Was very surprised to find that our stay at the Hilton did not include a farewell dinner and so our dinner last night was our last dinner together. When we got back to the Hilton this …

Now living in the lap of luxury at the Hilton Nordica. We have a telephone in the roourm, a TV, a wardrobe (!!!) an ice machine just outside the door and there was a lift instead of having to carry our suitcase up three flights of stairs.

We had our porridge for breakfast that i had pre-soaked last night and a couple of rounds of toast …
