After breakfast, we headed to Reykjavik botanical gardens, a statues museum, the famous viking ship statue on the beach and the cathedral. We then hurried to Keflavik, checked in the hotel, and went on a drive in the area - the bridge between two continents, a lighthouse, lava fields and the stunning Blue Lagoon. ... headband for warmth. Went up to 8 th floor to meet our tour guide Gulla,and fellow travelers. All very nice. Had a small bite at Sky, 8th floor, Cristi had potato leek soup which was average at best, I had orange pickled herring on homemade rye bread, it was wonderful! We meet at 8 pm to go see northern lights !! Fingers crossed. We drove for about an hour into the pitch dark country, pulled into an area with a small restaurant. Stood out side ...

... Little tiny black and orange flying machines dipping and diving across the water ... As they nest along the top of the cliffs you can really only see them from the water. Our guide informs us that there more puffins than humans in Iceland.

On the way back we are offered mussel soup - delicious!! Even the boys want more...

Once we return Garret promptly buys a puffin ...

... blue colour. It is comprised 1/3 fresh water and 2/3 salty water, with silica and algae in the water. It is around 37 degrees celsius - although some parts definitely felt hotter than others. Steam was rising up from the water - giving the area a mysterious feel. It was so lovely and quiet, we were the first bus to arrive, walked straight in (I had already paid the EUR40!!!!!! online) so no need to queue. Changing ...
