... we are staying at a quaint but luxurious country inn called Hotel Glymur. We are calling it Hotel Glimmer but the actual word is said nothing like that! But the sweet people seem to take it well that we mispronounce the name of this lovely place. We are in a two story room with an amazing view. Amazing views are easy to come by in such an gorgeous place!

We had an incredible dinner this evening that included seafood bisque . It was ...

... daylight we flew over Greenland and could see the mountains covered in snow and some glaciers--a beautiful sight.

          Sunday Aug. 16th
Our hotel overlooks the sea offering a nice view. It is still raining. We slept in and nearly missed breakfast so threw on our clothes and went there. We came back to the room and took our time to get ready to go out for the day. Remember this is 4:30am Toronto time.

... We find a picture of the fishing trawler that sank off the coast of Iceland on 23rd April, 1946. 17 crew members were saved but 3 perished. The mast can still be seen sticking out of the sand on the beach.

The museum also has several interesting buildings including some turf houses (with one for the elves), a school house, church and a two-storey home with under floor heating - that is to say, the animals were kept on the ground floor!

... of floating in the water I came out with more wrinkles than when I went in.

Came back to town and had dinner at a local Thai restaurant we had scoped the week before. Back to the Hotel and spent some hours trying to work out why everyone is leaving tomorrow and we are leaving the next day and whether we have accommodation for tomorrow night. The accommodation was all sorted by 1030pm

... only buses, and basing yourself in Reykjavik for any amount of time isn't good since it's not really close to anything. Also, for people who love the outdoors this could easily be a month-long trip. We left a lot of sights on the table, as it's nearly impossible to see everything. We only drove the perimeter of the country, but the inland area, only accessible by 4x4, is supposed to be amazing for hiking.

The last thought I had was ...
