      A new me

      I. am. back! The last couple months in Sant Antoni have been rough for me as I craved busy streets, social life (I'm even surprised at that!), and new things to see. This week I moved 95% of my stuff to a new apartment, which I will sort of share with another girl until the middle of June. She will be gone for most of it, which is good since its a small one bedroom apartment, but already I feel so much better in my life.

This morning was the first time I went out and ...

... from my first experience many years ago when I attended a Catholic service with my friend Desiree in LaCrosse. And, of course, I full well knew I wouldn’t understand what was going on. Luckily, the older couple in front of me liked to jump the gun and so I was clued into what was coming next. hehe. Apart from the activity and catching words here and there, I took in the people, the music and the atmosphere. As like any church today, people were ...

As I am studying Spanish and was relishing in the happenings of my day yesterday this morning, I turn on some disney music to listen to and sing along with. The song “Part of your world” came on and as I was singing along and thinking about the words, it feels fitting to me at this point in my life. I feel a part of this life here and with the people, but I still feel like I have a handicap like Ariel did. I want to seamlessly be a part of this ...

There continue to be days where I wonder what possessed me to accept this placement in Ibiza of assisting with the teaching of English to high schoolers. This placement on an island that nearly completely shuts down after September. On this island where I am daily among those who speak not only Spanish (Castellano), but also Catalán, those who speak little English and various other languages of the world. In a climate where outside you will be warm in the sun and chilled ...

... a half meals per day. Those mainly consisted of my morning coffee and a dee-lish baguette with cheese and meat slices. Yum!

The beer at the bars/nightclubs was expensive. I paid 5 euro for one beer at Sunrise one nite and 16 euros for three drinks there again. At Km5 lounge club on my last nite, I paid 10 euro for a beer. Ridiculous! The meal with Sylvia in San Antoni was overpriced, but it was delicious.
