Another beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.

I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

Davo and Janet
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece bluemesa... But they were our first ruins, so we enjoyed them anyway. The best part about the area was that we were all the way on top of the island, and could see for miles down the coast in either direction.
We zig-zagged our way down the hill and back into town, rewarded ourselves with a glass of wine at a local cafe. We were excited to try our first greek restaurant, and even ...
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece tommcattWhat a difference a day makes. This place is absolutely beautiful. There are still lots of walls and castles that have been here for thousands of years, but it is nice and clean and friendly. We walked into the walled city and saw heaps more shops with locally made things and also lots of touristy rubbish, but no-one was hassling us to buy and we could just wander around looking and not fighting people off ...
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece stephgraeme... a magnificent bronze statue of Helios, a Greek God. It was one of the seven wonders of the Ancient world. The statue only stood for 56 years before an earthquake destroyed it in 226BC.

The medieval town of Rhodes has now been declared a world heritage site. And no wonder with its winding old lanes, ancient defensive walls and its beautiful clear sky and water. We couldn't have afforded a night here but we sure are glad we got to spend a day in this touristy little town.
<br ...

Rhodes, Greece kirstyndmichael... been promised a bathroom and then you're told you have to wait a long time. The bathroom on the bus wasn't supposed to be used, since they didn't clean or stock it for the brief tour we were on. Rhodes once had one of the seven wonders of the world, a huge statue inthe harbor right on the tip of the island. This Colossus was destroyed in an earthquake around 300 AD, if I remember right. Now there are statues of 2 deer, representing the deer ...
Rhodes, Greece cynjohn... and I went to get food and walk around Venice again but it started pouring, thunder, and lighting all of a sudden. We took shelter and got on an earlier bus to the airport. We waited a while but everything turned out fine. We got back to our apartment around midnight, only an hour and a half after the train people. The flight was the shortest of my life-40 minutes. I'm used to the whole Burbank to Oakland thing but this flight was even shorter. It was great other than the patch of ...
Rhodes, Greece thedschneid... Desperate for a shower, we rapped loudly on a door that was the one, in our opinion, most likely to contain the proprietor. We guessed that he was likely to be called Billy. After all the pension is called 'Billy's Pansion'.

After a few knocks we heard the sound a baby crying. Then a female voice and a male voice whispering urgently. Hoiking and spitting noises ensued and presently the door opened and a tattooed young man stared at us with bleary eyes. He said his name was ...
