... nav' straight onto the toll road heading east toward Nancy and then onto Luneville (really must check the correct pronunciation of this, keep calling it Looney Ville!) To be honest, first couple of hours were quite boring in terms of scenery - very much the same view for some time, flat, fields, odd town in the distance but not a lot more than that. Once past Reims and Epernay, a bit more interesting, more of ...

Today we drove up to 4000ft (our camp by the lake is marginally below 3000ft) and the peaks, if that is even the right word, simply gave out lush pasture land for the dairy producers. No rugged hill farming for sheep here, indeed we are yet to even see French lambs. But the views are stunning and there almost seems a lake around every corner, at least to look down upon. That should make it ...

campsite a bit disappointing compared with what we have been at on our travels so far. Not overly friendly, seems more focussed towards French clientele. The surrounds and scenery are beautiful, mountains as far as can be seen. Must be excellent for winter ski season too. Hot still. Summer has certainly hit! ...

Well this is where we ended up after legging it from Saint Nicolas the terrible town! We park up in the local Carpark in town as the Aire was predictably full at 9pm. We get our heads down and put the TV on and watch Terminator 2 with sub titles like you do! We are still laughing at ourselves and the great escape! We leave in the morning very early to go to another Aire so we can enjoy our last full day in ...

... to call in at Sruthof the only concentration camp to be built in France. A very sobering place but in a beautiful high top location looking out over The Bruche Valleys and behond. That takes some computing considering what went on. Clive and I have enjoyed two months of complete freedom to go as we please, when we please. Our previous generations across Europe made this all possible. Not at all Clive's cup of tea and indeed not really mine but having spend several ...
