Like the Boston Airport, we got through the line really quickly, and had to stay there for about two hours. The plane ride was not the best, but it was not that long either. The upside to the ride was that I got a window seat and there was more room.

Today began earlier. Waking up at 8am wasn't too bad. We took showers and dried ourselves off with the paper towels one last time! We got ready, and headed to breakfast. After a quick meal, we put together our bags and headed down stairs. We checked out of our room and waited for the bus to arrive. It eventually arrived and we were off to the train station! We arrived around 10:30am and our train left at 10:46am. We ...
... we are meeting our daughter Sarah at the airport as she flies over from England to be with us on our 4 night stay in Zurich. Just as a side line- we heard & saw on last nights news in Singapore that there was an indefinite train strike in (I assume) all of Germany. Let's hope it has been resolved by next Tuesday. Landing in Florence seemed familiar to me, as we saw that there was a lot of open land that reminded me of rural parts of Vermont. We had made it, we had finally landed in Florence and it was still in that "this isn't real" phase.

The winter ski options are much greater. There are more chair lifts that spread skiers across a vast area. There are over 100 km of pistes when you include the neighbouring Les Mosses. In summer the same area is used by mountain bikers, rock climbers and hikers. We did a couple of great hikes that were fairly challenging. Stunning views everywhere. There's also paragliding. Megan took the cable car to the top of the mountain, La Berneuse at ...
... so went for a nice long walk around Lucerne, stopped for an occasional beer then wanderd back to pick it up. Cost about $25NZ, Nothing is cheap in Switzerland. Got back to the hotel in time for dinner which was surprisingly good. The beauty of staying in town was that we could walk down to the CBD for an after dinner drink. Nice temperature to go for a walk, had one beer then we headed back to the hotel for an early night. Big day tomorrow with up to 8 hours in the coach heading to ...
