Checking in to Copenhagen

A travel blog entry by travelingdiva

It takes less than two hours to fly from Basel to Copenhagen but somehow the journey seemed to take the entire afternoon. I left work at midday and finished packing before we left the apartment. We bought some cold lunch at the grocery store on our way to the airport. Once we were through security I received a text message from Swiss. Once again, …

Falling in love with Copenhagen

A travel blog entry by travelingdiva

Admittedly, Copenhagen was never on my extensive list of places I want to travel to before I die. When I saw the seat sale I thought why not, I've never been to Scandinavia! So I had no real expectations when I got here, and when I first looked through my Lonely Planet Encounters guide, my heart was far from racing with excitement. But then as we …

... who drove us to our hotel (which was quite close). The first room they gave us had a bath, the second one does have a roll in shower. We had dinner at this pub type place near the hotel. Dad had shrimp spaghetti with parmesan and chilli which was fantastic, I had a great Tapas with chilli shrimp, beef skewer, duck breast and pate. Mom had a salmon salad with warm salmon and cold potato.

    The Best Hotel in Copenhagen

    from payette

Let me first say that I am qualified to write this review as I have traveled around the globe and have stayed at hundreds of five star hotel properties. I found this hotel a true delight. The staff was extremely polite and courteous and very helpful. The facility is brand new and the room was delightful and packed with numerous special touches. I cannot begin to describe the numerous little touches that one never sees during their hotel experience. The breakfast was extensive and seating was abundant and the before dinner complimentary cocktail was just one more special touch. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I truly enjoyed making many new friends with the wonderful hotel staff. I plan to return to Copenhagen this spring and can assure you I will be booking my entire stay at this facility.

    Best Regards

    So wunderschön

    from journeys4me

    Tellement charmant

    from journeys4me

    So lovely

    from journeys4me

This lovely hotel is everything it promises if you look at their website. It's brand new, made in organic style, atmosphere is relaxing, you can realy unwind after the whole day of sightseeing around Copenhagen. Beds are so comfy, duvee so fluffy... Breakfast is just yummy - and also organic! Personnel is nice, friendly, helpful... Location is also very convenient - it's in a quiet street, but at the same time everything seems to be just around the corner - train station, tivoli, atm, 7/11... This hotel really contirbuted to our lovely holiday.

    Davvero carino

    from journeys4me

    A Jewel in Copenhagen's Crown

    from Pentonys

This hotel is a short walk from the station in Copenhagen. No need for a taxi unless the uneven cobblestone footpaths pose a problem for the pedestrian. It is situated in a quiet side street and access to the hotel is by way of card which guarantees the guest a certain amount of privacy and security. The premises has been newly refurbished. The bedrooms are small containing four poster beds, wooden floorboards and persian rugs (decorated along a japanise/sea shore theme) There is a large open closet for hanging clothes. Linens are spotless on double beds which are slightly ajar from one another, each side containing its own downy duvet. The dining room is light and airy and a delicious organic breakfast is included in the price of the room. A complimentary drink of wine is offered on arrival, but no meals are served on the premises, except for breakfast which is served until 11 am. Tivolii Gardens is a very short distance away and it contains lots of wonderful restaurants. The Hard Rock Cafe is also walking distance. Overall, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone contemplating a break in Copenhagen.

    Sophisticated & very good value

    from yellowpinky

This was the third hotel on our week-long stay in Denmark. This was far and away the best, the Hotel is currently incomplete as they are still working on the spar/pool etc. The receptionists are always helpful, the bar downstairs feels more like a lounge, we invited some friends over and managed to drink there all night (this was also the cheapest place to drink I saw in Denmark). the breakfast was organic and particularly nice. The rooms, although not very big were well equiped (LCD on the wall and a DVD player and a nice faux suede couch), we had a four-poster bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom had a walk-in shower & granite sink.

The only negatives were that there was no air conditioning which you will find very hard to find anywhere else, the corridors are very narrow so if you are over 150 kilos (which I'm not) you may need prising out, our room was too small for a cot so we just didn't bother with one, the bed was massive so it didn't matter.

I paid DKK1,255 which to me seemed very good value in a country as expensive as Denmark is, and that's coming from someone living in London.

    Wow!

    from Luv2Travel_Go

This hotel company had a sophisticated, upscale website which did not appear snooty. The Axel property just underwent a renovation, & we thought it would be fresh & inviting. It exceeded our expectations in every category! Fabulous design & sensual appeal throughout hotel, including unique Tahitian themed furnishings. Staff very friendly, helpful & enthusiastic about the property. Rooms immaculate, beds very comfortable, but bathroom with carved stone sink & open shower was the best! Even the hotel-branded soaps were outstanding! Organic breakfast was incredible, especially home baked breads & vanilla yogurt with almonds & honey! One aspect of the location was a bit negative- lack of good restaurants in immediate area, but convenient to train station & Tivoli. I would recommend highly, & would return.

Great Small Hotel Pick in Copenhagen

    from Boomer_from_Boulder

The former Triton has been remodeled and opened, probably a bit prematurely, as the Axel in May. When we were there in late June the hammers and saws were apparent everywhere and provided early AM wake up calls. The elevator was only working intermittently. The rooms are small even by European standards, but very comfortable and modern.

The staff is exceptionally engaging and helpful. The breakfast was over the top outstanding with really exceptional home baked breads and pastries.

The neighboorhood is an up and coming location with some funky exotica places nearby, but certainly very safe. The proximity to most of the important Copenhagen sites and restaurants is very good, and Tivoli garden is a short walk away. We felt the hotel represented a good value in an expensive city, especially after the construction work is completed.
