What a bit of luck. Aymericks aunt took me to rennes to catch the bus to spain at 930.
Arrived in rennes for 830, ayms aunt left and i went to eurolines to buy my ticket but it was closed. The sign said it opened at 9, so id still have 30mins to get my ticket and go to the bus station.
Had a coffee, went back at 9, still closed, went to bus station, went back to eurolines still closed, and now its 920am.
****, another week in France! Sod that, i ran to the bus ...
... better and better view of the whole landscape and city of Grenoble. The mountain range circling the city wore a small white tupee of snow. In every direction I found more and more blue and green mountains staggered one in front of the other. Each as breathtaking as the next. When we reached the bastille on top of the mountain the whole landscape rolled out before me. One small mountain looked like a massive flat stage. I looked all around me, falling madly in love with ...
... tour of the property. Their dog Samba was a little shy at first, kind of like Chloe. Claude started a fire in the fireplace and we had aperitifs. Then we had a dinner of magret de canard, which was duck breast. It was very good. And French fries.
At some point I made friends with Samba. Conrad tried at different times during the evening, but she wasn’t having anything to do with him. When he was finally able to pet her, she was so ...
... to dry. Here I was with a pair of shorts that I’d washed last night drying on the back of my bike. Strange how life can change, and things you never thought possible come true.
Other than Paris, we haven’t been to any bigger centers in France, and nothing with our bikes. Luckily, the canal and river paths helped us through most of the way. That is until giant ...
... to make conversation. This is a nice change as no other cyclists have done this before. So we try to ask about the upcoming town (which is where he lives) and if there is any camping (yes!). But instead of moving on, he kept cycling with us. So we kept attempting conversation with little snippets and broken fragments with the few words I can string together.
We ended up cycling together the full 5 km or so ...
... were amazing - one song had a distinct Spanish feel to its melody. If you're so inclined to find out more, the band was named Aquero.
Continuing my stroll, it was obvious that Toulouse is just as advertised, and has an incredible student buzz. Countless students were hanging out down by the river, either on bar terraces, or sitting on benches and the grass, sipping wine. Toulouse has a great vibe ... almost a Spanish vibe, in fact!
... awful that I am so awful at the language, but I do try. Mike and I both do, but the sounds of French are difficult to master if you’ve never had much exposure to it. Even if the phrase book has phonetically spelled words, it still never comes out the way it really is supposed to. We’ll keep trying… But, thanks to all those French folks that just smiled politely and answered us back in English.

... are pretty much always served without ice, this created my main quarrel with the French way of life -- it is impossible to get something cold to drink, and I felt absolutely parched much of the time I was there. Tepid water has never done it for me -- I want my water and my juice and the occasional soft drink to be cold. Soft drinks, in general, were few and far between, which is fine, but they are impossible to get in diet versions ...
Blagnac, France prairillon... home, anyway (Ag department rules). Clearly, this is a country that knows the importance of a unified marketing strategy! Doug was actually on a plane that was readying for departure at Schiphol when a Turkish Airlines jet missed the runway and crashed on February 25, killing 9 people and injuring many. Rockwell-Collins has a facility in Toulouse, France, which is a hub for the aeronautical and aerospace industries in Europe. The aiport ...
