Well we woke to sunshine and it made the whole day better. First we had a few things to sort for the camper as we have a few teething problems but nothing major. We headed off to the little coastal town of Le Touquet which turned out to be delightful. There is lots of 1920's and 1930's architecture which has given the place a lot of character. The population is on 5000 here but in the summer it swells to 250,000 people and all ...

After getting off the Euro Tunnel Train it was a bit of guess work as to where we would go. It was pouring with rain and cold and windy so we decided that we wouldn't go far. We have a great camp site app so I checked a few out and we hunkered down in a delightful little campground where the french lady was helpful, lovely and oh so French. Loved that. We were camper bound for the day but by ...

Looking back on our last full week in France, we are very glad that we booked the beachside accommodation at Quend plage for our last long stay. Amidst our two long day trips we had a few shorter excursions close to home and lots of beach time.

On Monday we visited the Commonwealth Cemetery of Etaples. Etaples was an important hub in WWI as it had multiple rail lines to connect to the fighting, and seaside access to connect to England. Apart from its use as ...

    Ypres and Abbeyville

A travel blog entry by fredpedler68 on May 12, 2015

... were many student groups in the city. We then drove on into France to Abbeyville which is on the Somme River. It was. Pleasant drive through the fields of Flanders and northern France. The crops of cereal are about 400 mm high and the farmers are busy spraying. The country side is lush green. Had to repair the power board as we blew a fuse in the unit and are having trouble getting a ...

    From Pyrenees to Boulogne

Over the Pyrenees to Lourdes was an amazing drive, we left Huesca in 24 degrees with bright hot sunshine, topping the mountains it was about 16 but there was snow on the ground, and in Loudres is was about 20 but muggy and so green after the dry heat of central Spain. As we got nearer the Pyrenees it wasn't clear if were going to go over the top as the snowy peaks seemed so far away in the sky and at such a contrast to the dry hot heat we were going through, but guess what we ...
