    ... lighting up of the Terracotta Army statues. Then back to the room for a little spruce up, with make up and a change out of flip flops and into sandals, as the place we were heading to had a 'no thongs allowed' rule! Off to Argyle (bar/club plus food) and ordered a jug of Pimms and a pizza - very civilised! AC and I enjoyed a few more cocktails and lots of dancing before getting to bed before 1am... Most ...

    ... on board how smart we were to have had our luggage checked through to Auckland. It meant we didn't have to clear Australian customs, and got to go directly through to the transit lounge to catch our Auckland flight. Good thing because what was a leisurely connection when we booked had turned tight. It was all working out well until we saw we had to go through security again. And it was s-l-o-w. But in the end we got checked in and on to the next flight.

    New Years Day, took ferry from Darling Harbour to circular Quay, then on to Manly Beach. A beautiful blue sky hot day. Wonderful views of the harbour from boat. Manly beach busy, Claire and Mike bought new hats, we swam in the sea. Glad we hadn't gone back to Bondi ...
